"So what's next?"
"We read,"
Phoebe opened the grimoire, flipping through the pages looking for something in particular; her eyes brightened up for a split second before dimming.
"What's wrong?" Summer asked, noticing the sudden change of emotion on Phoebe's face.
"Your right, it's forbidden," Phoebe stated unequivocally.
"Let me see that," Summer said, taking the book away from Phoebe.
Summer fixed her gaze on the book, a complicated expression on her face, and Phoebe just stared at her.
"Give me that," Phoebe snatched the grimoire away from Summer, "have you forgotten that not everyone can understand the grimoire?"
"Yeah, I forgot, my mind is all over the place. Just tell me what it said."
"It said there had to be a sacrifice to go back in time or change the past," Phoebe said, looking at Summer, who was waiting patiently for her next words. Phoebe sighed before continuing, "We need the blood of a virgin human girl, and we don't have enough time.
" Why?"Summer questioned,
"The spell won't work an hour after the freezing spell has been cast."
Summer looked a little taken aback by her words: "Why do they need a human?" "If they had said the blood of any creature, I would have gone to the dark forest to get any dark witch I could find or any of those cruel vampires," Summer scoffed.
"So what do we do now?" "Would we use any of those dead humans outside?" Phoebe questioned.
"Would it work? We don't want things to spiral out of control."
"So should we use any of the humans here?"
"No, of course not, Phoebe; we grew up with dose people; how do you expect us to just kill them like that? Don't you realize that if we killed them, there would be no difference between us and dose bloodsuckers?" Summer asked, grabbing Phoebe by the shoulder, rage burning in her eyes.
"So what do you want us to do? Just sit down and wait for help. We don't have time, Summer, and it's not like we are using them for our own use; we are using them for the benefit of the entire realm, can't you see that?" Phoebe said with pleading eyes.
Summer had never seen Phoebe this stressed and desperate before, and what she said made sense, but it wasn't the right way but the easy way. Summer opened her mouth to say something but stopped when Mira cried out in pain. She went towards Mira, helping her up to her feet.
"Mira, are you all right?" Summer asked, given the support she needed,
"Yes, I'm fine, and who is going to kill who?" Mira asked, holding on to Summer,
"No one," Summer said coldly.
"Mira, is that really you? I mean the real you," Phoebe asked uncertainly.
"Yes, it's me... I guess," Mira responded puzzled, not understanding what she meant.
"Let me update you on what's going on." Summer then told Mira everything that had happened, explaining to her the situation they were in and how trapped they were. Mira, on the other hand, couldn't believe what she was hearing; everything felt like a terrible nightmare, and she felt guilty for everything that had happened, even though she couldn't remember what had happened; she knew she had done significant damage, and even if the spell worked, nothing would ever be the same again.
" Phoebe I'm so..."
"No Mir, please, it's all my fault; don't blame yourself. If I hadn't upset you, we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place." Mira could hear the sincerity in Phoebe's voice and the hurt in her eyes. Phoebe was feeling guilty about everything, and she was so trying to fix her mistakes, but at this moment she was very emotional, and making emotional decisions would cause more harm than good.
"Let's do the apology when time starts to move; now we need a solution." Summer broke off any more emotional discussions, bringing them back to reality,
"Is there not another way or method out of these?" Mira asked hopefully,
"No, just this one," Phoebe answered, disappointed.
"They said the blood of a human girl, right?" Mira suggested. "Well, I am part human, so you girls can use my blood and in... "
"NO, Mira," Phoebe cut in, "we'll use any of the frozen humans here, so there's no need for you to do anything."
"What if the spell requires the human's life, then what if the spell eventually works? That means the person might not exist anymore, and tell me, Phoebe, would you be able to forgive yourself for that? Because let me tell you, I wouldn't, and how are you going to find a virgin human? I don't think vampires can identify a virgin by just looking at a person, and you also have to save your strength for the reverse spell, so you can't even use your spell to check all those things?" "Phoebe, look, we don't have time for games; let's just use what we have at this moment, please," Mira explained, determined to get a positive answer,
Phoebe was torn; she didn't know what else to do. She looked outside the window, and seeing all the chaos that had happened, she reluctantly agreed. She wished she was the person to be sacrificed instead of her friends, but she was nowhere near human.
"Good start to the spell,"
The girls cleared the center of the room for the ritual, and Phoebe drew a big circle on the floor with three smaller circles in the middle, using chalk; they also added symbols and drawings to the circle; they lit candles around the circles; the windows were covered with thick curtains, preventing light from penetrating the room; this made the room look like a witch's den, giving the room an eerie impression;
"The spell says that this circle must not be broken or else there would be consequences. Mira, you need to stay here in the middle of these three circles. Summer, you stay at the last one while I stay at the first one," Phoebe instructed, taking her position soon after the girls were standing in their respective circles.
Phoebe brought out the hunter's dagger from the cloth it was wrapped in. She looked at the dagger, holding it firmly in her hands. Mira placed her hands on Phoebe's shoulder, giving her an assuring smile, and with her other hand, she took the dagger away from Phoebe. With shaking hands, Phoebe opened the grimoire, scrolling through it looking for the page where the spell was. Summer, on the other hand, was surprisingly quiet.
Summer wasn't actually needed for the spell; she was just there to give security and support just in case something went wrong. Summer was not behaving like her usual self; she was just standing still as an artwork hugged on a wall. Even her expression didn't give anything away.
Phoebe was taking her time in the hope that a miracle may happen, but she knew that nothing as such would happen, and the more she wasted time, the more complicated the spell would become.
Mira's hands were clammy as she held the dagger. The spell could go completely wrong and end up killing her, but she didn't care; the spell is required for the people, and even though she ends up dying, she knows that she is doing the right thing.
Phoebe began to recite the spell; each word she spoke brought them closer to an unknown end; everyone in the room held their breath, including Summer's. The room became a little windy, dimming the candlelight a little, and Phoebe's voice began to echo in the room as the air in the room became heavy and thicker.
Summer, on the other hand, had left the circle to stand at the closed window; her back was leaning against the wall, as was her left leg; her hands were crossed in front of her chest; her eyes were fixed on Mira; her eyes were like those of a predator waiting for the right moment to strike; only God knew what was going on in her mind.
Summer averted her gaze from her friends to pip at the closed window; her expression didn't change at all. Phoebe, who was casting the spell, looked at Summer with eyes full of questions. Summer just gave her a shrug and left the room.
Summer went out to see a few people coming with similar shining daggers in their hands; they were the hunters. Summer was beyond upset right now to have any kind of discussion with anyone, so immediately she sported them she charged towards them like an angry bull in her Lycan form, ripping and tearing anyone in her path. She needed to let off some steam; she needed to realize the tension she felt, and what better way to realize tension than to let it all out on the same people who caused it?
When she was done with her killing spree, her fur was coated with the blood of her enemies, but her beast was still not appeased. She turned around to leave, but another wave of hunters arrived, some with arrows, crossbows, swords, daggers, and other weapons. If it were any other day, Summer would be overjoyed to be able to kill the hunters, but today was different; Summer had devised a well-thought-out plan; she despises using her head, and now that they were here, they were attempting to derail it, and of course, she won't let them, even if it meant killing her. With the remaining frustration left within her, she unloaded it on them mercilessly.
Mira was worried for Summer in the room; she knew how tempered Summer is and what she does during those periods; Mira desperately wanted to check in on Summer, but she couldn't just leave the rituals halfway through; all she could do was hope nothing bad happened to her.
The spell soon took root, as every word Phoebe spoke became louder than the previous one, dark lines appeared on both Phoebe and Mira's bodies, the wind in the room grew stronger with each passing minute, the room was once again filled with darkness, Phoebe's eyes had completely changed to black,
Mira felt her body suddenly turn hot; it was as if an inferno was burning her from within; her consciousness was slipping away, just like when her demons had taken over; her eyes kept switching from black to blue; her teeth became razor-sharp; her claws elongated; it was as if all the flames in her body were going toward her right hand; her right hand was emitting a heavy amount of darkness; soon there was no flesh left on her right hand;
Darkness surrounded them like a thick wall, moving like a hurricane. Mira was still fighting to stay in control. She didn't want to cause more problems for her friends; they already had a lot to handle.
Outside the thick wall of darkness were demons; they just stood at their spot, watching the scene before them like a theater act.
Mira was already suspended in mid-air; the circle that was white a moment ago was now dark, and Mira began slitting her wrist with the dagger in her hand. As the blood touches the ground, it turns the dark chalk line red; the more blood that falls from her wound, the heavier the darkness becomes; Mira's scream pierced the silence; her body felt as if it had been torn apart; she was no longer controlling her body; even her hand that kept cutting her wrist was no longer under her control.
Outside the room, Summer was fighting like the animal she was. She ripped her enemies apart mercilessly. She knew that if the spell worked, everyone she killed now would still be coming back, but she didn't have time on her own. She knew that the ritual was already taking place. She had little time to do what she had planned, and these hunters were not making things easier for her.
The hunters were fighting madly; they were not slowing down. It was like all the hunters from their realm came here just to fight her, and Summer was the one-woman army holding them back. Summer was losing strength due to the multiple injuries she had obtained from the fight.
Suddenly, Summer heard Mira's scream and so did the hunters; now, a few of the hunters began to move towards the room, leaving Summer occupied by the rest. Summer wanted to go after them, but their numbers kept on multiplying.
Summer leaped towards the hunters that were entering inside, but the rest followed other roots to go towards the room, and now that the orphanage had been broken, they had more advantages.
Summer knew that she could not stop them, so she decided to execute their plan now, but before she could leave, more hunters appeared before her. She fought with everything she had, still aiming for the room; the demons had already arrived; it was now or never.
She left the hunters behind, running toward her room with the hunters hot on her heels. She saw the hunters that had gone into the building struggling to enter the room. Phoebe must have placed a protective barrier, but Phoebe's barrier is not strong enough to hold those pests out, and Phoebe is also busy with the rituals, she could not cast both spells at the same time, so that means it wasn't Phoebe behind the spell, but who.
Looking at the barrier, it looks like it was about to collapse. Summer ran as fast as her legs could carry her, and immediately the barrier broke. She leaped into the circle that Mira was in, pushing Mira out of the circle in her suspended state. Summe saw that the red line had almost made a complete circle, so she quickly picked up the dagger, plunging it deep into her chest.
The moment Phoebe said the last word of the spell, the hunters stabbed her from behind, and they began killing the other demons in the room. The demons didn't even fight; they just stayed there, waiting for their turn to get killed. Meanwhile, Summer's blood was completing the circle, and the moment it was complete, everything went blank.
