Chapter 36: Copter fight

{TW: VIOLENCE, BLOOD}

I reached the door first and opened the door. The rest of the players got the wind of it and followed. The interior was completely dark. As soon as I entered, I felt myself trip against something. A button I suppose.

Blue neon lights came to life inside. But at the same time, the gravity disappeared too. I was floating now. For the note, this had happened way too many times for me to panic now. Could it be that I tripped on some lever which triggered anti-gravity?

"WHAT THE HELL FREN WHY DID YOU HAVE TO STEP ON THAT?" Ivy yelled at me, three feet away. She wasn't exactly keen on floating.

After that, the warehouse dissolved from view, and everything around me went iridescent. I was feeling sick now. Arson swam past me, smirking.

"So nice of you to hit the dimension-changer." he said.

Oh. Back on my first mission, I did want to try what dimension-changers were about and how exactly they worked. But just right now, when my life is at stake, I'm not too overexcited to try them.

The sky, azure, and cloud-free appeared in my peripheral vision. I was in a helicopter now. I looked at the interior of the helicopter. Ivy was there. No one was flying it. It was automatic. Ivy shot a glare at me and withdrew a rifle from somewhere.

"Keep your gun at the ready. They're coming." she said and took her position to the opposite copter door. Before I could ask who these "they" were, a screech was heard. I stuck my head out to look. I stifled a scream. Dozens of dragons, like literal mini dragons, were nearing ours, and the rest of the helicopters.

I had my gun ready within a minute. I had never imagined I would come face to face with a dragon. Their wings equalized the rest of their body. Their skin was scaly. They were either black, leathery brown, or murky green. They had slits for eyes. The sclera was fiery orange and the irises in the middle, deep red.

When a black one neared my side of the copter, I shot without thinking. Turns out their scaly skin could double up as armor too. If I were to think rationally, I preferred to go for a vulnerable part of the body.

Obviously, that would be the eyes. But the dragon was flying in a confusing manner. It would seem to get bored and move on and then, reappear from above. Parallel to our copter, I saw a player shooting blindly like I was doing two minutes ago. The next second, the brown-colored dragon lunged at him, and ate him half in a gulp. Blood splattered from the limp body and it fell. The dragon chased it down to consume it. It was pretty sickening to watch. On the bright side, the programmers had worked up deatails. The CGI job was lit and the blood coming out looked realistic enough-

So when the dragon snapped at me, the fight-or-flight instinct kicked in and I accidentally managed to shoot him in the eye. The dragon screeched horribly and disappeared. Shooting the dragon made me confident that I could survive.

I had completely forgotten about Ivy being there too. Apparently, she didn't have as much to do as I had. She turned three-sixty degrees to look at me, she smiled and gave me a thumbs-up.
