A Blast From The Past.

He snapped his finger, and the waiter came to put a cup of coffee in front of her.

"You look old….!" She pointed to Damon and giggled,

"Drunk Caroline!" Bonnie giggled. "Haven't seen her in 9 years."

"Drunk Caroline….is the Caroline who speaks the truth!" Elena explained. "She's telling her truth."

"Okay!!" Elena pushed the cup in Caroline's hand. "Drink up….."

"I think the girls are at Alaric's…." Bonnie commented, "Because, Caroline never drinks in front of them."

Caroline was drinking the coffee.

"I got it!" She told everyone. "I finally stopped the merge!"

"We know…." Damon smirked. "That's why we got the invitations! And the banner, and you told me when I came inside!"

"So…..How is it going with Klaus?" Elena asked Caroline, ignoring Damon.

"It's great!" Caroline piped, "You know how fun Klaus is when he's not crazy!?"

"What?" Damon looked at her.

"Yes...He's fun, and funny…." She had emptied the coffee cup, "And an amazing dad!"

"WHAT?" It was Bonnie who almost shouted.

"Yes…" Caroline told them, "Last week, he took the girls to a water park."

"Really?"

Hold on…" Caroline took out her phone. She was swiping through, and stopped on a photo. It was Lizzie, Josie and Hope on a water slide with Klaus.

"OMG….He looks like a normal dad!"

Elena laughed.

"He is…." Caroline explained. "When he's not being a crazy mad man, looking to kill or hunt…." She shrugged, "He's normal…...I think it's because of Hope…" She whispered.

"Are you happy?" Damon asked her.

He was actually concerned. Over the course of four years, he and Caroline had grown closer. No one had suffered the loss of Stefan Salvatore more than Caroline and Damon. They had wallowed in the misery together. They had been sad together. They had shared many bottles of bourbon to bury that pain together. As a human, Damon healed more quickly. Caroline still held her engagement ring in a chain in her neck.

"Yes….." She smiled. Damon hadn't seen such a smile on Caroline's face since the wedding.

She looked over to the other side of the Grill, Alaric wasn't here yet, and for a second she was glad. She didn't want the girls to see her drunk.

Her eyes lingered over Klaus, he was sitting Elijah and Hayley. Hope was sitting with them.

After a few minutes, Hope slipped away from the table, and came towards Caroline.

"Hey, Caroline…." She came towards her. "Mom wants to know something about the school..."

"Sure…" She smiled. She was walking over to the other table, when Hope whispered.

"It's a lie….Dad wants you."

Caroline laughed.

"It's some kind of surprise, he doesn't want you to know…."

"But you know." Caroline asked, looking into Hope's eyes, which sparkled with mischief. "But you are not going to tell me…..because you are your dad's daughter." She sighed.

Hope smirked.

"Okay….just tell me this," She gave in, "Will I have to evacuate the grill?"

Nine year old Hope laughed.

"I don't think so."

Caroline joined the booth with Klaus, Elijah and Hayley. When they started to leave.

"Well, if we want to make it to New Orleans in time,..." Hayley stood up, "A big meeting with the vampires and the wolf alphas.."

"Then, we have to go!" She completed the sentence.

Hope pranced away, with Hayley and Elijah.

"Come on…" Klaus told her, "Something to show you."

"Right now?" She asked.

Alaric Saltzman came inside, with Lizzie and Josie Saltzman walked in.

"The girls are here!" She said excitedly.

"But...This will just take a minute!"

"Okay…"

She followed Klaus, outside the Mystic Grill from the back door. Usually it was dark. But tonight it was well light.

"What happened here?" She looked around.

Flowers everywhere.

"Well, you didn't come home." Klaus told her. "So, the party came to you."

"Wait...?"

Caroline was confused. Before she could say anything. Klaus Mikaelson was on his knee. Holding one of the most beautiful rings she had seen. It was pure transparent, with just a small hint of pink. It was exquisite.

"Oh my God…." She whispered. She knew to expect this, but it certainly was a surprise.

Actually, two surprises in one day. His timing was perfect. And she loved that.

"Of course!!!" She squealed. "Yes!"

"Oh….How much did I want to see the woman Klaus Mikaelson fell for!"

They turned around, and a shady car's windows rolled down. It was Aurora.

"Who's that?" Caroline asked.

"Not important, love!" Klaus told her.

"Well, you should carry on…" Aurora snapped her finger, and the car started to move the other way.

Klaus sighed in relief. Nothing bad happened, from all the time he knew her, he knew she would do something crazy.

The car turned, they heard bullet sounds. Caroline's arm skin broke, and the bullets pierced into her skin.

She felt dizzy.

The car raced off. Caroline tried to hold something to stay up, but she didn't. She collapsed on the floor.

"Caroline!" Klaus shouted, as he came back from mid street as he was going to run after Aurora.

"Caroline!!" He tried to talk to her, but she wasn't answering. She was gagging.
