Buying Time

Another sharp crash echoed through the night as glass shards rained down from above. This time, it was the window just beside the one Aerchon, Arlyn, and Sylra had leaped from.

All three of them snapped their heads toward it with weapons at the ready, but as soon as they saw who was emerging, a brief relief flickered in their eyes.

Saeldir and Vael were mid-air, their body twisting as they made their descent.

The exhaustion in their movements was clear but they still managed to land with precision and rolling into a crouch before pushing themselves to their feet.

Vael exhaled sharply, his bow already drawn while scanning the battlefield. Saeldir straightened with grim expression as his eyes swept across the scene and saw dozens of Laston's metal soldiers still surrounding them with their glowing red optics.
