The Start

Erend stepped out onto the porch with his hands tucked in his pockets. Arty was curled up in the armchair. A book open across her lap. Her eyes skimming the pages.

When he stopped beside her, she looked up.

"It's ready," Erend said.

Arty blinked, the words seeming to take a moment to land. Her excited face from days before was still there but now something else had settled underneath. Now there were a quiet nervousness in her expression.

"You nervous?" Erend asked.

She gave a small chuckle.

"A little bitt nerevous, yeah," she admitted. "I mean, it's another world. With another law and creature and Magic and many more. I barely got a hold of my own Magic and now I'm jumping through dimensions."

Erend chuckled as well and ruffled her hair lightly. "You don't need to worry. Eccar is there so he will take care of you. I made sure of that."
