"Little girl, this is your new village." Migara said to baby girl while was getting off from a cart. Baby girl looked around with enlarged eyes as if his words were understood. Sun was setting down from sky and she was looked at this curiously.
"Oh! My baby does you understand me. You are so intelligent. Let me show you, our village" Migara said and carried little baby in one hand while showing village of his. This village was near to Moravapi town called Kalamalgama. He showed the environment of village while was walking to his home. After some time, he stopped at a house built of wood and bricks. The walls of that house were plastered with lime and the roof was covered with tiles. With one look anyone could speculate that this house belonged to some wealthy or noble man.
"Little Manththa, this is our home. Look well." Migara said while looking at the baby girl who was looking everywhere curiously. Before Migara was tried to enter with the baby, a boy who nearly aged 4 or 5 years old came in front of them.
"Father, is what are villagers saying true? They say the father took another child from the capital. Is that true?" the boy started to question Migara.
"Sumana, where do you hear those stories?"
"I heard it from aunties who were bathing in wewa. They said you got another mom in the capital. Is that true? Are you going to leave you?"
"Why did you go there to hear that nonsense? Who said I am going to leave you?" Migara asked angrily.
"I went there to bathe. They said 'Father got a new wife. He is going to dot her. Now you have to live alone. Father tell me it is false. Is it?" Sumana said while crying.
"Don't hear their nonsense. How could I live without you? "
"Then tell me. Did you take another baby from the capital? Is the baby that taken from the capital?" Sumana asked his father while directing his hand to the baby on his father's hand.
"Oh yes, see this is your sister. "Migara tried to show baby girl to his son.
"I don't want to see her. "Sumana started to run away inside the house.
"Sumana, stop right here. Hear my words first. Your little sister lost her mother from birth. You also know how hard, when you lost your mother. We are the only remaining relatives to her. So we have to take care of her." Migara said with a stern voice.
After hearing this Sumana stopped at the place where he stood and turned his head to look this baby girl. After that he reached to his father and looked her sister who was in his fathers' hand carefully. At that time baby girl also looked at him with curious eyes.
"Isn't your sister beautiful?" Migara asked while was lullabying her. Baby girl responded with happy expression.
"Yes my sister is adorable "Sumana said happily. While was looking at her he thought 'Whoever said anything, I surely protect my sister well'.
"Hey Janthu, come here. Find a nanny for feed milk. Also tell Hadiya to get more milk from cow stable. As well as find goat. I will pay for everything "Migara gave orders to Janthu who was a worker in his house.
"Yes master. I will do that. But…" Janthu asked.
"What?"
"Master, there is a rumor spread in village saying 'Master Migara took child from illicit affair.' So many of people not like to help our family. So it will be hard to find nanny from this village."
"How abrupt this rumor. Okay. If you can't find one in this village, find one in town. I will pay money. "
"Okay master. "Janthu said and left quickly.
"Sumana, let's go to house "Migara said and two of them walked to his house while was taking little girl.
