Chapter - 29 - The Night Devil

Present Day

Frank choked on his food hearing Mrs.Roger's sentence and said, "How can you recall that day, when I am eating, Grandma!!? You have no idea what I went through that morning." Mrs.Rogers laughed and asked Gianna, "What did you exactly tell him that day at the hospital?" Gianna smiled and looked at Frank with a smirk.

Frank said, "I will tell you. My world turned upside down at the moment I heard you were admitted to the hospital. I still have no idea how I reached the hospital that day. I was so heartbroken seeing you lying there in the bed and was crying thinking that I would lose you. But, suddenly I felt someone dragging me and I came to senses only when I sensed a terrible pain on my right arm. I thought I could bear the pain but NO, I was wrong."

"You would have clearly heard me screaming loudly but Doc closed my mouth with her left arm and twisted my right arm even harder, pushing my face against the wall. No one has treated me like that before and I was so shocked. I couldn't even move an inch. She leaned closer to my ear and whispered, 'I will give you two choices. Take care of your grandmother properly or continue to be a junkie so that I can rip every part of your body, one by one.' My brain stopped working and I stood there like a statue even after Doc released me."

Mrs.Rogers laughed loudly and said, "Now I know the reason why Frank has become such a sweet boy." Gianna also laughed looking at Frank. Frank reminded Gianna of her younger brother and that made her miss him so much. Mrs.Rogers and Frank bid good night and left after the dinner. Mrs.Rogers always brought a familial vibe whenever Gianna came to the apartment which brought warmth to her heart.

Gianna closed all the windows and balcony door and walked towards her study room with a cup of coffee in her hand. She placed the cup on the table and checked her email on her phone. She moved her keyboard on the table to the side and lifted the table cloth revealing a secret compartment in the table. She placed her index finger on the middle and the compartment door slid open. There was a laptop, two mobile phones and few other tech related items inside the compartment.

She took the blue colored basic phone and dialed a number, after switching it on. "I was going to drop by the hospital, if you didn't call me by today night." Gianna heard a thick masculine voice over the phone. Gianna leaned on her chair and replied, "It was another hectic week. Any new reports?"

"Capellos have landed and guess where?" asked an excited female voice. Gianna wondered where the place would be. "They have placed their foot right in the lion's den. They are in Halston city." Gianna's eyes widened and she cut the phone call after telling them to join the video call. Gianna switched on her laptop and typed a series of codes in a secure web. After a few seconds, a secret video portal opened.

"Geez! You look like a zombie, Gianna." exclaimed a good looking muscular man with black eyes. "I am doing good. Thank you. Where are they both? They just spoke to me now" asked Gianna. "They went to get groceries. It's funny, isn't it?" laughed Aldo.

"I solved the program you gave me and It took me one whole month! You should have coached me instead of sending me to the university." said a young boy in his early twenties sitting in a room with neon lights. "Indeed, Gianna is the best. You are in university to gain more exposure so don't fool around, Roberto." said a handsome man with a medium stubble beard. "I don't get time to fool around like you people. I am surrounded with books, lecturers, exams, assignments and projects 24/7." retaliated Roberto.

"Lorenzo, you have no idea how hard he is working so stop nagging him." said a beautiful woman with a slender figure. "Lucia, you are the reason why he is so spoiled!" complained Aldo looking at her. "I really like to sit and hear you all talking but I don't have that kind of time in my hands. So, share the details of those Capello men." said Gianna looking at the four people on the screen, who she held dear to her heart.

Lorenzo, Aldo and Lucia exchanged glances. "Now, that's the problem. We just know that three men have arrived in Halston city and one of them is the Caporegime. The interesting thing is there are no details or pictures about him except his alias name, given by his soldiers and associates 'The Night Devil'. He is claimed to be the most notorious among all the caporegimes and also most favored by the boss. He deals with everything through his two most trusted men named Armando and Alberto. They are also not easy to get closer with."

Gianna looked at the screen blankly for a few minutes and said, "Anyway let's keep on looking and gather all the information we can. As this is a golden opportunity for us, let's not lose it. By the way, why are they here?"

"It's because of the dispute between the two families which I mentioned two months before." said Lucia. Gianna smiled awkwardly at Lucia because she clearly forgot what it was about. Lucia noticed Gianna's smile and laughed at Gianna. Lucia was sure that Gianna had forgotten about the matter.
