Chapter - 79 - Deadly combination

The nurse thought Dr.G was acting paranoid but rushed towards the patient as the monitor started to beep. Gianna examined her quickly and instructed the nurse to bring anti-seizure drugs soon. The nurse quickly came back with the medication and handed it over to Gianna. Gianna administered the drugs soon and the patient's heart rate started to normalize. By then Victor and Ralph rushed to the ICU but were surprised to see Dr.G already stabilizing the patient.

"Dr.G, how come you are here?" asked Victor. Gianna didn't respond and kept looking at the patient. Victor and Ralph didn't bother with more questions and left the ward silently. She held the patient's hand in her hand and whispered, "I know it's hurting but you are stronger than you think. Don't worry about anything. Your mom is waiting for you so, open your eyes soon." After confirming she was stabilized, Gianna stepped out of the ICU and saw the team and the nurses waiting for her.

"Good morning, Dr.G," greeted the team. Gianna greeted them back and saw that it was already half past five am. "How did you know the patient would have a seizure, Dr.G?" asked the nurse. "I had a dream where she was asking me to save her!" said Gianna as she sat on the chair to relax. Alice handed her a glass of water and Gianna thanked her before drinking. Gianna and the team left to their respective rooms as they had to freshen up for the day's shift.

Gianna felt restless and called Mason immediately upon reaching the room. Mason just laid down after a night's intense search for the assaulter. He glanced at the display and was surprised to see Gianna calling him. "Sorry to disturb you, Sergeant." "I was awake so no need to be sorry." "Did you get hold of the assaulter?" asked Gianna with hope. "If I catch him, I will notify you first. Don't worry, we will find him soon!" assured Mason. "Thank you, Sergeant." "Dr. Gianna, you can call me, Mason." Gianna agreed and hung up the call.

In the Visconti base, "Does capo have a girlfriend?" asked Derrick as he gave a cup of coffee to Albert. "No. No woman till now has piqued his interest." "Such a waste! Look at his body, as a man I feel attracted to it. I can't imagine how the women would go crazy!" said Derrick as he smacked his lips. "There are countless women waiting for him back at our place but all in vain. He has never allowed any women to approach him till today. Did you hear how the nurse was chased away by him?" said Albert with a proud smile.

"I wonder what kind of woman can tame this Night Devil?" said Derrick with a smirk. "We have to wait and see what the future holds for him!" said Albert as he sipped his coffee. These guys were completely unaware that the heart of their Night Devil was already captured by a Goddess. What a deadly combination of Devil and Goddess!

Gianna and the team finished with their rounds and sat down to take a brief rest. Victor's phone started ringing loudly and everyone looked at Victor. "Dr.Victor, there is an emergency!" informed the nurse of the ER. Victor passed on the information and the team rushed to the ER. They saw a man lying on the bed with an iron rod penetrated through his upper chest region and he was also bleeding profusely from the back of his head.

"Bring the scan, Ralph," said Gianna as she approached the patient. The patient was barely conscious and able to breathe. Ralph handed over the scan copy to Dr.G, soon. "It's an open decompressed skull fracture. Prepare the operating room soon." commanded Gianna. Dr.Zane rushed behind Gianna and asked, "What is the status, Dr.G?" "A decompressed skull fracture with CSF leakage, hematoma and on top of it, it's an open wound. Ralph will take him to the operating room soon but before that seal the penetration wound soon."

"Who are you to decide to take him to the operation room?" asked Kristen in a chilling voice standing behind them. All of them turned to look at her. "I will have to decide whether he needs urgent care or not as you can see the rod's penetration position." Kristen walked towards the patient and examined the wound before looking at the scan. "Dr.Kristen, fortunately no organs are injured." Kristen nodded her head and checked the patient's respiration rate and blood pressure.

Gianna couldn't wait anymore as the patient had to be operated on soon to avoid septic shock. "There is no external bleeding seen and his respiratory rate is normal. Seal the wound site fast, so that he can be operated on soon." said Gianna through her gritted teeth. "We are not machines that do things at a faster rate, Gianna. Wait or leave, your choice," said Kristen as she guided her resident.

The staff were baffled at Kristen's careless response and looked at Gianna. "I will give you five minutes. I am taking the patient no matter if you are done with sealing or not!" said Gianna and leaned on the wall. "As if!" scoffed Kristen. "Dr.Kristen, you better speed up because there is an open wound in his head." Kristen looked at Dr.Zane and smirked before turning away. Zane couldn't believe how foolish a doctor could be!

Five minutes passed and Gianna moved forward to push the bed. "Are you foolish? Can't you see what we are doing?" shouted Dr.Kristen. The whole ER looked towards the commotion. "Are you planning to kill the patient?" asked Gianna with an icy glare. Kristen was intimidated by Gianna's aura but she didn't want to back off in front of all the staff. "Watch your mouth, Gianna. Don't run your mouth as you wish!" Gianna scoffed and moved to push the bed but even before Gianna could realize, Kristen pushed her.

As the push was unexpected, Gianna lost her balance easily and fell towards the patient. All the staff closed their eyes in shock to not witness Gianna falling on the rod which had penetrated the patient.
