"By the way, the Great Boss has given Marco the charge of the Christmas party. The Great Boss is happy with him because of the shares he gained from Jen Pharmaceuticals. Why didn't you take over the shares? Wasn't Jen Pharmaceuticals under your control?"
"I am set free from the stupid in charge this Christmas. I should thank Marco for his help!" said Rick with a smirk. "Stupid in charge? The Christmas party will only be entrusted to those who are favored. Don't you know that?" asked Mr. Rossi in a disappointed tone. "I don't need any favor from anyone." "You annoying brat! Why are you so stubborn? Don't be an extremist. Try to be moderate otherwise, you can never gain anything in life!"
"What exactly should I gain from the way I live? Did you gain anything, Dad?" asked Rick with a bitter smile. Mr. Rossi was speechless and looked at him with affection. "Don't I have you by my side? Isn't that the greatest gain in my life?" Rick chuckled and asked, "Aren't you a lucky one?! There is only one Rick in this universe, and where will I find another one?" "You will get a smarter and stronger Rick if you try!"
"How is that possible?" Rick asked with a confused look. Mr. Rossi laughed and said, "Get married and bear a son, you stupid!" Rick almost puked blood out. He looked at Mr. Rossi with disgust and quickly walked past him before he said any more nonsense. Mr. Rossi chuckled at his son's expression and walked toward his quarters.
In the hospital, "Do you have any plans for Christmas, Dr. G?" asked Alice as she passed a cup of coffee. "Is Christmas already here?" asked Gianna looking outside the window. She noticed the snow falling from the sky silently to the ground. The beauty of snow is fleeting, like a dream that slips away when we try to hold on to it. "Just like that jerk," Gianna mumbled in a low voice.
"Jerk? Who is it, Dr. G?" asked Alice with a confused look. Gianna was caught off-guard and coughed lightly. She quickly cleared her throat and asked, "Who is the jerk?" Alice looked at Gianna with a confused look and shook her head. "Nothing Dr. G. I think I heard it wrong." Gianna hummed and looked back at the window with relief. 'Why do I have to think about that jerk every time? Gianna, you are an idiot! Stop thinking about that jerk!' thought Gianna as she drank her coffee.
"Are you going to stay in the hospital for Christmas, Dr. G?" asked Ralph. Gianna shook her head and said, "I have plans." The team looked at each other in shock. Just then, Gianna's phone buzzed in her pocket. She took out the phone and immediately answered the call. "Good afternoon, Dr. Henry." Dr. Henry greeted her in response and said, "I want to discuss a few matters with you. Can you come to my office after lunch?" "Sure, Dr. Henry."
Gianna put her phone back in her pocket and asked the residents, "What did Alexi say about the surprise he gave me?" Liam chuckled and said, "He was on cloud nine." "He described to us how surprised you were and thanked us for keeping the secret," said Tom. "I felt guilty seeing how happy he felt that we kept it a secret from you, but we didn't," said Alice in a low, disappointed tone.
"That's okay. We are doctors and we shouldn't hide such matters for his safety. If the patient is healthy and happy, that will make us also happy. There is nothing wrong in telling a few white lies," said Gianna as she winked at Alice. Alice nodded with a bright smile and drank her coffee. Others also agreed with Gianna's ideology and nodded with a smile.
After lunch, Gianna went to meet Dr. Henry. "You look exhausted! How are you holding up?" asked Dr. Henry with a look of concern. Gianna smiled politely and said, "I am doing fine, Dr. Henry. Everything is on the right track." Dr. Henry nodded and passed a file to her. "Take a look and tell me your opinion." Gianna guessed that the file would contain the details about new attending physicians. Her guess was spot on as she opened the file. She went through the profile silently.
The first candidate - Dr. Alyson Vance,32 years old, has three years of experience as a junior attending physician with numerous successful surgeries and currently working in one of the top hospitals in the neighboring state.
The second candidate - Dr. Evan Thomas,31 years, has two years of experience as a junior attending physician. He has a good surgery success rate and is currently working in one of the average hospitals in Halston City.
Gianna closed the file and asked, "Dr. Henry, may I know on what basis you chose these candidates?" Henry smiled and said, "Dr. Kate selected them. She said the selection was purely based on character and skill." Gianna nodded and said, "I am fine with the candidates. I trust yours and Dr. Kate's decision."
"So, shall we proceed with the candidates?" "Yes, Dr. Henry." Gianna was finally relieved and felt less weight on her shoulders. "They will most probably join us next week. Also, I planned to rearrange Dr. Jason's room for both candidates. Even though they have experience and are older to you doesn't mean they are as skillful as you, so always keep an eye on them. Understood?"
"Yes, Dr. Henry," said Gianna with a reassuring smile and left the office after a small discussion about the department and the progress of the experiment.
Dr. Henry looked at the snowfall and said in a hopeful tone, "I hope the newbies will get along with Gianna."
