In this world for an equivalent level mages are more powerful and can easily change the course of a battle, however most people will choose to be aura users as the mages break through to a higher stage and the obtention of their new circle is an extremely difficult task that needs a lot of talent and hard practice. The failure of the creation of a circle may result in the host death.

In comparison aura users can become stronger using only effort as talent is not needed, although being talented makes you gain strength quicker. The aura users still face the possibility of dying when patenting to advance to the next star, but it will only happen if the host sustains an attack while doing so and the process of advancing is stopped.

Overall it could be said it is chosen at birth whether someone will be a mage or if an aura user. In Ivental history there have been a couple of untalented people becoming great mages through cheer effort and struggle, passing near death's door a few times in the process. Most magicians don't attempt the 9th circle as only a few leaved after doing so, as a result aura users have a slower progression in power but can surpass mages by going beyond the 8-star.

Talent in aura users expresses itself differently for mages, talented aura users will have more power then a normal aura user at the same stage. Technique and experience are also very important aspects that add themselves to the raw strength of someone, in the ranking only raw strength is represented.
