The Aftermath of Stage One - Part 3

Free healthcare.

There was no one nearby. I was simply greeted by the white walls and white sheets and white roof. I looked around at the various pieces of medical equipment around me. What was I meant to do now? I guess I should call for a nurse or something.

I looked around to see if there was a button I could press or some way for me to communicate with a medical staff. As I ruffled around, searching for something, someone entered my room.

'You're awake.'

I looked over. It was a doctor dressed as stereotypical as you would expect. A long white jacket, light blue shirt and a mask over his mouth and nose.

He came over to me.

'You don't have any major injuries so you should be free to go.'

'Really?'

'I'm just as surprised as you are. You were hit by a car that was sent flying through the air and yet you sustained only a minor head injury.'

It seemed that my general durability had also been increased.

I slowly got up from the white bed and placed my feet on the ground. I looked over at the doctor who appeared to focussing on something else.

Well, I should get ready for my next battle.

*

I travelled to Haven.

It hadn't been too long since I last checked the contracts so I decided to leave that until later. I found that I could farm the animals in the pens myself if I wanted to. There were pretty significant diminishing returns on the Haven Missions and I didn't really want to fight an E+ ranked enemy yet.

I made my way towards the Haven Shop which had a some new items.

-

[Farming Potion] - 5 Vampire Tokens

{Triples experience gained by killing animals at The Farm for one hour}

-

[Luck Potion] - 4 Vampire Tokens

{Increase the chance of rare drops at The Farm by 10% for five hours (Stacks)}

-

There were some other Farm related items however these two were the main two that I was interested in. The Farming Potion was an obvious buy and I considered how many Luck Potions I would get. I had 62 Vampire Tokens so I had a lot of money to spare. I was also going to buy a general double experience potion.

5218 [35000 needed to level up]

In the end, I decided to spend all the rest of my Tokens on luck potions. In total, I purchased 8 Luck Potions, three Farm Potions and three Double Experience Potion. I applied all of the to myself and made my way into the pen.

Inside the pen, there were quite a few pigs who were aimlessly walking around, without paying any attention to me. My contracted farmer was in another pen so I had this one all to myself. There wasn't the usual foul stench which came with farm animals which was quite good—in fact, there was hardly any smell, just the fresh air of Haven.

I summoned [Blood Blade] and walked around, killing pigs. They didn't fight back or even acknowledge me as I killed them.

They didn't give very much experience, but it required much less effort than it would have taken to kill a mission monster. The main thing I wanted were the rare drops however. Once I strengthened a little bit more, I'd try grinding experience more quickly via the Haven Missions.

I continued walking around slicing the animals, one by one, they poofed into clouds of dust as I slayed them and showed my experience gain.

This happened for quite a bit of time.

After almost an entire hour of killing pigs, I still hadn't gotten a single rare drop. Just how rare were they? Even with my cumulative +80% luck I still wasn't getting any.

Almost two hours later, I had used my second Double Experience Potion and second Farm Potion and was almost onto my third. However, as I was slaying a pig as usual, I was greeted by bright colours and a little explosion of bright blue confetti.

[Rare Item! Lucky Charm x1]

{Increases your luck by 50% when worn}

The little item fell to the floor and I leaned down to pick it up. As I held it in my hand, I realised that it was quite heavy. It probably weighed at least three kilograms. I guess I'd only wear this while I'm grinding in The Farm.

With that new-found motivation, I got back into the mindset and began slaying pigs once again, this time my arm felt a little heavier however it wasn't a great inconvenience. I felt that I was getting more used to my [Blood Blade] as I continuously swung it at these pigs.

As my third hour of potions ran out, I didn't get another rare drop. I checked my phone and saw that it was 4pm.

You know what, I'm going to spend the rest of my Vampire Tokens and continue until my luck Potions ran out.

With that, I continued killing the pigs.

After just four pigs, I was greeted once again by a bright colours and a sudden explosion of a different colour of confetti. This time, the confetti was a light-red. As the pig poofed into dust, no item fell on the ground, however, there was a message.

[Rare Item! Upper Upgrade Token!]

Ooh, I hadn't gotten an Upper Upgrade Token yet. I decided to check my contracts menu and give it to my farmer.

~

[Lucky Farmer] - Level 1

Experience: 32/100

Upgrade Level: 1.89%

[Lucky Farmer] - Level 1

It increased the upgrade level by an entire 5%!

While I was here, I decided to collect the rewards from the farmer.

-

- 7 Vampire Tokens

- 1090 Experience Points

~

It wasn't that much but hopefully from now on, the farmer should earn quite a bit more—actually, now that I thought about it, I wasn't sure what 'upgrade level' meant. I originally thought it was just an efficiency increase but as I thought about it again, maybe something special happens at 100%.

I guess I'd find out in the future.
