Seclusion (2) - 58

A/N: I don't know why, but Webnovel's being stinky and doesn't show that I updated the first chapter two hours ago even though I have, so if you opened the app and saw this chapter first, go back a chapter and read that first, or you'll have no idea what's going on.

"Lysander..."

Seeing how she was at a loss for words, I took the initiative to slowly walk up to the chair that was across from her, something I could see that she had set up a while back, purposefully giving her enough time to sort her thoughts out and to get her mental pieces back together.

"How have you been, Mother?"

Continuing to provide her with time, I asked her a question that she could easily subconsciously answer.

"G-g-good..."

She was in a fragile state of mind right now, I had to treat her with care, as if she was a baby born with a deformity.

Sitting there in the silence, I thought about what could possibly be going through her mind right now.

First was the fact that my sister and I were here, providing her with much needed mental support in this time of hurt for her.

Second was the fact of my "dad's" soon to be new wife, a person that, although my Mother didn't hate personally, was somebody that she thought of as helping the people she did hate, my "dad", and his children that came from her.

After all, my "dad" had betrayed my mom in her eyes, and the children that came from this affair were now able to contend with my sister and I in terms of being the heirs to House Endendyk.

Of course, I doubted that they would ever be able to contend with my sister in terms of strength, backing, or even love from my "dad", but still, they were a threat.

But, I guess I should tell her that I already killed one of them by pushing him over the edge, and the other one, well, they were unique to say the least.

Maybe if I could take her with me, she would probably become an asset later if I helped her now.

I mean, I wasn't dumb enough to have overlooked her sudden change in character. It was obvious from just spending just this little amount of time with her, she definitely had multiple different personalities in her body. Whether she was born with them, or if it was a result of her class, I would just have to figure it out later.

Anyways, figuring that enough time had passed for my Mother to think, I came out of my reverie and looked her in the eyes, signaling that it was time for her to start speaking, or I would start looking at her in a negative light.

"Lysander... You father..."

"I know, he committed an inexcusable action."

"...kill..."

'Hmm, did I here that correctly?'

"You want to kill them? "dad" and his other children?"

"...yes..."

"I've already taken care of one then, he died just a few hours ago."

"Really?!"

As if life had suddenly been injected back into her, my Mother shot straight up in her chair and looked at me with a shine in her eyes.

"How did you do it? I have to know!"

Seeing this sudden change, I couldn't help but smile, as, even though it seemed like a psychopathic response to what I had just said, she was my Mother, I had known her for so long that I could predict this type of response from her.

She had been a genius space mage in her prime, and being married to the love of her life, "dad", was probably the peak of her life.

But now, with this marriage happening, and how she disregarded her own sanity as she pushed her magic to its limits, it had only been a matter of time until she was reduced to this state.

Fortunately though, I knew the perfect way to solve this problem.

I just had to "take care" of all her problems, and then afterwards, she would truly be able to join my family again.

She did have all the requirements already, it was just her mental state that was the issue right now.

Yet, why did I feel like all the members of my family each had something wrong with their heads?

Anyways, I went on to explain how I had pushed the other dude to the limit by continually talking shit about him, in which the whole time my Mother listened raptly, bursting into loud fits of laughter at some points.

"I'll also take care of the second child. She has been punished by father to live along with me for the next two weeks and a few days."

"That's even better..."

Her happiness was now so far up there that she could barely express it in words.

"So don't worry, Mother, you're the only one I can consider a parent now, so please don't lose that trust."

"You needn't worry. Lysander, you and Eve are the only ones in my heart. I wasn't able to help you back then, when you were banished, but I can help you now."

She looked at me with pleading eyes, begging for my acceptance.

"And that is why I have arranged a marriage for you."

"..."

Although this statement stunned me for a little while, it wasn't like this was truly unexpected.

I had figured that this would happen a long time ago, whether it was due to my "dad" trying to get rid of me, or another factor.

The point was, this had all been in my calculations.

As for why my Mother was the one to do it, it was obviously because she didn't want a repeat of what happened to her to happen to me.

From her experience, seeing that her marriage due to love was so horrible to her, she could only believe that an arranged marriage would be better for me.

"To who?"

I voiced out the only question I could have at this moment.

"A pretty girl from a march (A/N: Name of land belonging to a Marquess) that defends the border between our nation and the Demonic Trench."

"Name?"

I couldn't help but feel a slight premonition, not knowing whether it was really good or bad, creeping up in my heart.

"Chanceline Sacorathy"

'Fuck... Why did it have to be that extra?'
