The Forest of Wishes (2) - 67

A/N: A little bit of a plug for the guys I'm editing for before we start the chapter.

First, RamenGuy10's newest chapter was just released, so yeah, check that out.

Second, NoSane is about to come back with a new novel at the end of February. He didn't really like the last one, and then he had to start college, and so he hasn't been publishing, but he has been writing.

There's a stockpile of a little more than 100 chapters right now for the new novel, so yeah, here's a little teaser from what I've seen of the novel so far (basically a synopsis I'm writing for his book):

...

??? had been the game of the year.

With millions of different routes, variations, and endings, it was almost like a real life game.

Just in an eroge format of course.

And I had been the only one to play this game in its entirety, spending an unhealthy chunk of my life reaching every single ending.

I was addicted to say the least.

Yet, when I woke up one day, I had been reincarnated into that exact eroge where 5 main characters held the spotlight.

As the NTR'ed brother of one of the 5 protagonists at that!

Follow me on my journey to not get NTR'ed.

COMING END OF FEBRUARY!

...

Yeah, that ending for the synopsis was bad, but you guys get the gist of it, right?

Guy falls into body of pretty boy who was the perfect person in the eyes of many.

Yet, he got NTR'ed in the end.

So he tries to not get NTR'ed.

Yeah... that's the basic gist of the novel.

Now, onto the the third guy.

Yeah... I've picked up(?) a new author!

They are one of my friends who wanted to try out writing after I introduced them to webnovels which eventually led them to finding out that I also wrote webnovels.

"BlessedCursed" is their pen name, and they are mass releasing their new novel TODAY!

Before I get into the synopsis though, I wanted to talk about our thought process on this one first, because like, we spent a lot of time thinking this novel up.

Basically, first, we realized that all novels that do well on Webnovel are basically copies of other novels that did it beforehand.

TAPOV with TNE, any reincarnation novel with any isekai manga, any villain novel with either a Chinese Fushui novel or a Korean novel like "The Villain Wants to Live", and lastly, all other novels, which are copies of the copies.

Yeah, basically, everyone's copying these novels with extreme success.

So then we thought, "What's a super popular novel that hasn't been copied successfully yet?"

And we ended up with one answer, ORV.

Nobody has been able to successfully copy it and make it big on the Webnovel platform.

So, we thought that we could do it.

Well, they'll do it. I'm just the guy editing it.

The title is "Advent of the SSS-Class Returner".

Here's the synopsis:

...

#Regressor

As ash fell from the sky and the endless night began.

As hundreds of millions started to die.

As thousands fought to survive.

There sat one boy, who had finally returned to his original world, regressed even.

Unfazed by the events, he called upon the power of his memories.

The strength to overcome the trials.

The strength to right what had gone wrong.

The strength to seek redemption.

In this lost world, only one person was destined to stand at the pinnacle.

And it was that boy, now, a man.

...

Welp, that's the end of my advertisements, or in NoSane's case, a synopsis to hype his new novel up.

That's all, enjoy the actual chapter now!

"The Secret Garden".

A great book overall if you asked me, but it was something that I has always thought was the originator of all those cliche hiding places for overpowered items in webnovels.

And here I was at one, a literal secret garden that I had gained access to by walking through a part of a giant tree that looked solid, but actually was just made up of movable vines.

Seriously, that tree was truly humongous, towering higher than even the Empire State Building.

Of course, I had seen more outrageous things in this world, but this was the first time I had seen a piece of flora or fauna that reached these proportions.

Anyways, onto the actual opportunity, here I was in a garden, a fully furnished one that did not look like it had been abandoned for more than 500 years.

And with the sunlight peaking through little openings in the roof of the tree, it only casted a more ethereal glow on this place, as a contrasting lightness and darkness perfectly balanced in a truly terrifying dance for supremacy.

Yet, I wasn't here to just look at the view, and so I carefully walked on the designated path through the garden before reaching the small pond that was there.

Looking into the pond, I found my targets, two koi fish, one black and one white, swimming in an infinite circle, creating perfect circular ripples on the surface of the pond.

Once again, another truly magnificent waltz between an avatar of light and a paradigm of darkness.

But I had to disrupt this if I wanted to achieve my goals.

Now, if you were wondering if the protagonist, aka. my sister, could have ever done that, then the answer was obviously no.

No, she would not disturb the fish and no, she would leave after getting the fishes' blessings.

Yet, like I said before, the blessings were literally nothing compared to all of her other cheats, and so, if the blessings were useless to her, then how could they be useful to me, someone who wanted to surpass her one day?

Instead, I guessed that I would have to do something a lot more sacrilegious per se.

You see, after having done my research all the way back when I was a book reading maniac at the age of 8, I had found something that had really surprised me.

Having kept my eye on this place, as I had always thought that there was something more to it, I sifted through hundreds of books before I found a description of it.

After all, if something wasn't recorded down, it simply didn't exist.

Reading the the short description of this place, I was given one vital clue...

This was an inheritance ground that a legendary sentient monster had set up after it had died.

As for which legendary monster, I didn't know, but I was going to get this inheritance.

The breathing technique and mana circulation methods I had were incredible, but I still needed more power because they were taking a little bit too long to progress, probably due to the fact that I had had literally no time to use them, with only 20 minutes per day before bed being my meditating time.

So yeah, I kinda needed this especially before I returned to the academy, with all the hidden monsters in it being a threat to my safety.

And so, I took out two swords, shoved it into both fishes' brains at the exact same time, breaking the dance without once disturbing the harmony of the pond.

It was a perfect start, as I quickly opened my mouth and swallowed both fish whole.

What can I say? If they were powerful enough to grant my sister a few blessings, then eating them could be good, right?

Welp... yeah... shit. I was definitely wrong.

Thus, I spent the next two hours in immense pain.

And, for the next few weeks, I struggled with horrible indigestion.

Sigh...
