[Lunar Complex]
Void sat in silence, entranced by his own thoughts. His head was filled with questions, as he glanced at the empty chairs.
'Following the original timeline...the city should succeed no matter what.'
However, with the newfound changes in the future, he wasn't so sure anymore. Void frowned. A familiar 'click' echoed through the hall as Cayde played with his gun.
'Must be nice to be that strong.' Void sighed internally observing his carefree demeanor.
Void sat up straight, exhaling a deep sigh as he slapped his knees,
'Whatever it is, first priority is to make the most of every opportunity.' He resolved himself.
Cayde chuckled, shifting his seat to face Void, "Nervous?"
Void heaved a breath and stretched his arms, "Just a little." Cayde furrowed his brows as he studied Void a bit longer. He holstered his gun and leaned back into the chair.
"Ya know champ, everyone's a bit scared before a big job. Yeah, even me." He smirked.
Void chortled, " Is this your version of a pep talk?"
"Why, is it a bit too cheesy?" Cayde struck him an exasperated glance.
"My bad, go on."
".....Anyways, as I was saying. Everyone's scared, but after the job, they only have good stories." Cayde stated, slightly reminiscent.
"Yeah, that's called telling a lie." Void shook his head and shrugged.
Cayde rolled his eyes, "What would you know? Every story is true if you tell it right."
Void chuckled, rolling his shoulders, "Where'd you get that one from? Another trick in your book?"
"Nah, a friend of mine said it back in the day. You know he always had the best stories. This one time he eve-....huh." Cayde put two and two together as his eyes narrowed.
The two then sat in complete silence once more as Cayde had a massive frown on his face.
It was almost borderline awkward but then Void felt his radar blink as a few ships descended near the entrance.
Shortly after, Kabr, Pahanin and Zavala entered the hall.
Zavala sent a nod to Void as he took the chair of the center consul, while the others simply sat wherever they pleased.
"Thank you all for making it here, the rest should be arriving soon. Let's maintain decorum as we wait." Zavala stated, earning a nod from everyone.
"Cayde, that means no feet on the table." He repeated, raising a brow.
Cayde groaned as he put his feet down and leaned on his arm, exhaling a few sighs.
"Thank you." Zavala promptly sat down, checking his comms to ensure all was on schedule.
A few minutes later, Void glanced at his radar and felt numerous ships as well as a few unknown energy signals gather above.
'Must be the awoken.' His eyes were glued to the door, but he wasn't alone.
The rest had already picked up on the faint energy fluctuations, all wore tough faces and awaited their new "ally".
Ikorra was the first to march to the hall, with all squad captains in tow. Following the group was a team of awoken scouts, armed to the teeth, donned in lilac and purple armor carrying caches of awoken origin.
However what caught Void's eye was the man leisurely walking behind his team. Bright auburn eyes, pale blue skin and a sly gaze.
Void frowned , 'Uldren Sov, to think we meet like this.' Naturally, he was someone Void was highly on guard against.
The man who seemed to be against the guardians at every turn. The one who was ultimately responsible for the murder of Cayde-6.
His eyes flashed blue as Uldren's stats appeared.
----------------------------
Name: Uldren Sov
Race: Awoken
Level: 32 (Max for Destiny 1 is 40)
-----------------------------
'He's stronger than I expected'
The awoken were extremely gifted with their physical abilities, but level 32....
'Guess he isn't famous for nothing.' Void looked away, focusing on the weapon caches instead.
Ikorra glanced to Zavala as they motioned for all guardians to stand, welcoming the awoken envoys.
The guardians all formed a line as the caches were stacked ahead, following this the Corsairs stood in formation, as Uldren took the lead.
He looked towards the Vanguard, nodding.
"Queen Mara sends her regards, according to our agreement, caches of our finest weapons, and a squad of our best scouts. I hope we have a good collaboration." Uldren smiled, extending his hand to Zavala.
Zavala returned the gesture, and the Corsairs opened up the caches, revealing pristine reef weaponry.
After exchanging a few words with Zavala, Uldren took his leave, assigning his squad of Corsairs under Ikorra as agreed upon.
Void found it amusing, he along the others could easily tell that Uldren was probably just keeping up appearances. There was no need for the prince to actively participate in the hunt.
'I guess being royalty comes with some benefits.' Void thought to himself and chuckled, as a guardian who wasn't yet known, he couldn't exactly decline the Vanguard's orders.
Ikorra quickly took charge of the room as she waved her hand, and each crate of weapons flew towards the fireteams present.
"Take what you need, anything extra goes to the Sunbreakers, they've already began searching for activity on Mercury and Venus." Ikorra ordered.
Naturally, guardians weren't ones to pass up on loot, as all eagerly began rummaging through the caches present.
Kabr and Pahanin were no exception, as the duo began inspecting the snipers and the autos. It wasn't long before they aimed down sights to try and get a feel for the weapon.
However, Void wasn't any different. He had already scanned through most of the caches with his eyes, and didn't find the need to grab any weapon. His new auto rifle practically made up for it.
But just as he thought that, Pahanin shot him a glance.
"Hmm?"
He scooted closer to guess what Pahanin wanted, and as he did, Pahanin plunged his hand into cache, digging up a a silver lined sidearm.
Running his fingers across the barrel, he mouthed,
"Good."
The next second, he tossed it to Void.
-----------------------------------
Vestian Dynasty (Sidearm)
Rank: Legendary
"Long Live the Queen"
Perks:
Precision Frame: This weapon's recoil pattern is more predictably vertical.
Chambered Compensator: Stable barrel attachment. • Increases stability • Moderately controls recoil • Slightly decreases handling speed
Armor-Piercing Rounds: Rounds cause extra damage to combatants' shields and over penetrate targets. • Slightly increases range
Kill Clip: Reloading after a kill grants increased damage.
Dragonfly: Precision kills create an elemental damage explosion.
-----------------------------------------
Gripping the sidearm in his palm, Void felt it's heavy rounds and stable body finish. Truly an auto sidearm that could pierce through armor like cheese.
Inspecting the weapon thoroughly, he definitely liked it.
"Thanks" He nodded, receiving a nod in return as Pahanin continued testing the weaponry.
Kabr wasn't an easy titan to impress. With a great inventor like Pahanin and the one of the smartest warlocks like Praedyth by his side, the titan had grown accustomed to weapons polished to the highest degree.
However, as he held the gigantic auto rifle in his arms, he felt it was peculiar. He felt a sudden rush of energy as his fingers lingered near the trigger.
It puzzled him, 'This must be the awoken technology' He concluded.
Handing the rifle to Pahanin for the final 'Okay', Kabr continued inspecting new weapons.
In the end, a few among the weapons were truly meticulously crafted. However, the same couldn't be said for every weapon.
Once they had gathered the best fitting weapons, the duo stepped away from the caches, signaling Void to follow along.
He obliged, knowing that although his eyes were pretty accurate, Pahanin had centuries of experience to guide his judgement, something he couldn't easily triumph with just the stat window.
Void joined the two as they waited for the squads to fully load their arsenals.
"You got the ship?"
Kabr leaned back into the wall, crossing his arms as he waited for an answer.
"Yeah, newest model with a warp drive. We're good to go."
Void grabbed a chair nearby and sat down. Their fireteam huddled in a corner as they waited patiently.
Despite the large selection of weapons available, guardians were quite picky with what they used. It was natural of course, no guardian would pick a weapon they didn't fully trust.
As such, each squad captain had singled out what they believed were weapons that would serve useful.
Ikorra saw as most captains had finalized their arsenal, hence, she stepped up one more time.
" Those present here, arm yourselves the best you can. A single bullet might make the difference between victory and defeat."
Her words caused a few to reconsider, glancing around the caches they had gathered for their teams.
Ikorra received a few resolute glances, prompting her to continue.
"Guardians, we are one step away, from victory, or from defeat. Our objective, is to hunt down the enemy, no more and no less. Don't falter in the face of twisted lies, let the light guide you."
A few stoic faces emerged following her reminder.
Ikorra smiled, knowing every single person had taken her reminder to heart.
" Every fireteam leader here has been provided a list of notable Ahamkara locations. As far as we know, they are experts at hiding. The world bends to their will. But the Ahamakara, like us, are weak to their own desires for power. Wherever you choose to search, you might have to lure them out."
Ikorra's gaze swept through the room
"Taunt them, frighten them, whatever it is you need to do. But once you find them, don't hesitate to deliver the final blow. Whatever it takes guardian, we will hunt them down, to the last one."
Her eyes went cold, a surge of aura pulsed through the room, stifling pressure building through the hall.
Void felt his hair stand on end as the aura struck him, an imminent sense of danger ran through his mind. He could feel his body trembling against a wisp of her power.
'Is this the true power of a warlock vanguard?' He thought, noting to not cross Ikorra as long as he could help it.
The room gravitated to her next words, all waiting in silence. Ikorra gave a solemn nod,
"May the light be with you, guardians."
With the last phrase, she stepped down, returning the room to a relaxed state.
Zavala and Cayde were the first to leave, their somber faces reflected in the dim sunlight.
Cayde unlocked his holster, as he transmatted away. Not a second later, two ships shot through the horizon, warping towards orbit.
On cue, Ikorra and the Corsairs under her exited the hall, traveling to Jupiter's asteroid cluster.
"Let's go, we'll regroup at the cathedral and leave for Mars."
"...." Pahanin nodded
"I will see you there" Void replied, scuttling to the exit, as he spotted Sai and Tevis's disappearing figures, he could faintly make out a wave as they two transmatted away.
He sighed, putting his hand down.
Looking back, Kabr and Pahanin had already triggered their transmat.
Glancing around to ensure he was alone, he swiftly unholstered his hand cannon, and stored it in his inventory, instead replacing it with the new sidearm.
Tapping his wrist twice, Void's figure blurred, disintegrating into fine data lattices as he appeared within his ship.
"Obsidian, route to Cathedral," He relayed, slumping in his chair, his eyes lingering on the faint blue prompt in front of him.
