  A thumb pointed over the shoulder of his white gauze shirt. “Look at her. She’s pathetic. She couldn’t have caused all this.”

  The entire dungeon was void of anything except for the witch who laid catatonic on the bed and the black stains where beings once stood. “I bound her. Don’t overlook her abilities for what you see before you now.” With her arms crossed in defiance, Isoke rolled her eyes, and her pointy chin wiggled no. With one child lost to her husband’s unending grudge, she would hold on to Tessa, no matter the cost. “She is cleansed of her mate completely. Eventually, she will come to her senses and yield.”

  Both his hands framed her face. “We thought the same of Isabelle, but she would not be commanded. And from everything you and Odion have told me, that is not Tessa’s way either.”
