CHAPTER Forty-Two

  (Amaya)

I was exhausted and couldn’t wait to sleep in my own bed; I sipped my coffee as I followed Sin down the hallway. When he stopped in front of a door, I almost walked into him, not paying attention as I looked at the paintings that lined the hallways of the castle. Previous rulers' names were written on small plaques underneath the pictures. Hellebore was in one with a man that looked a lot like Sin, but his eyes were black and he had a very stern face, like the man never smiled. He looked miserable.

Sin opened the door for Abigail, and she walked into the room. "Have a good evening Abigail. I will have guards posted nearby. Just in case Hellebore has something planned."

“Thank you, lad." she smiled before looking at me and adding, "Good night, you two.” She smiled with a wink before closing her door.

Sin moved to another door and opened it, letting me, I walked inside, and he followed.

I looked at him and frowned. He moved close to me and touched my cheek.
