It was hard to tell if Scott was surprised by the information or not. If he was, Florence couldn’t really tell, because the death look in his eyes clouded anything else he might have been feeling at that moment.


What she did know was that Scott wouldn’t stand still and do nothing, and that made her fear for his life even more. She had done exactly what Pearl told her not to: tell Scott about her threat.


However, Florence believed that Scott wouldn’t do anything drastic that would put their lives in danger. At least, she hoped not.


As soon as she finished her story, Scott got up and called his grandfather, telling him everything he knew. Needless to say that Noah was distraught. It was clear to Florence that none of them liked Pearl, but to think she was capable of doing something like this… Perhaps it didn’t cross their minds that she’d go to that extent.
