Chapter 9. Snatching away the project

"Cousin, don't worry. I'll take care of the company. You and your rapist husband should just have a good life. When I get these big orders, I'll be able to take over your position. We're family, so there's no difference between me being the General Manager or you being the General Manager ..." Jacob said triumphantly.

Sophia was so angry that she hung up the phone.

"Mom, who made you angry?" Allie asked as she looked at Sophia carefully.

Even though Sofia protected Allie very well, she still had to come into contact with outsiders. In an environment filled with malice, the three-year-old girl had already learned to read people's moods.

"Eat well, Alice. Mom is fine."

Sophia forced a smile on her face.

 Allie nodded and continued eating.

Sophia took a deep breath and went into the kitchen to pour a glass of water.

When she turned around and saw that Daniel had followed her in, she immediately put on a defensive posture.

 "What are you doing?"

Sophia frowned as she stared at him and questioned him.

"What happened? Can you tell me?"

Daniel looked at Sophia with concern. He naturally did not have deep feelings for Sophia, but he owed her a lot, after all, and his heart was filled with guilt.

"It's nothing, just don't cause me any trouble!" Sophia frowned and said impatiently.

"No matter what, we are husband and wife in name. If you have any difficulties, you can talk to me, maybe I can help you," said Daniel gently. He was not angry at Sophia's unfriendly attitude.

Compared to the suffering that Sophia had suffered because of him, what was this bad attitude worth?

"You'll help me? Sure, help me get my collaboration projects back from Jacob!" Sophia sneered and looked at Daniel in disdain.

 "Jacob?"

Asked Daniel as he looked at Sophia in confusion.

"That's right, my cousin Jacob. Albert has handed over the three large-scale projects that I've been negotiating for the company! Can you help me get it back?"

"You can't! So, stop talking nonsense in front of me. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have taken half a year off because of my pregnancy. I would have been in the head office by now! If it wasn't for you, Albert wouldn't have been able to find a reason to drive me away!" Sophia said angrily and strode out of the kitchen.

When Sophia passed by Daniel, she saw his tightly furrowed brows and became afraid.

She had vented her anger to her heart's content, but she had forgotten that this man was an extremely dangerous mental patient!

Sophia heaved a long sigh of relief when she saw that Daniel did not flare up.

At the dining table, Allie was already full.

"Go and play by yourself first. Mommy will clean up the tableware." Sophia laughed, but her face was extremely pale.

"I'll do it. You should have a good rest."

Daniel snatched the plate from Sophia's hands and pushed her to the side.

Sophia looked at him with a strange expression. If she didn't know his nature, she would have mistaken him for a good man.

Sophia had already returned to the room with Allie by the time Daniel cleared the table.

There was a note on the door.

"You can stay in any room you want, but you're forbidden to enter our room!"

Daniel shook his head and tore off the paper.

He pushed open the door of the room opposite the master bedroom, walked in, and closed the door.

Pulling out his phone, Daniel made a call.

 "Lucas ..."

On the other side, Jacob was wearing a noble black suit and driving a brand new Porsche on the road. He was whistling.

He turned to look at the contracts on the passenger seat and smiled.

Sophia had already discussed all the details with the first party. If he took the contracts to him, he would be able to sign them.

The most valuable thing was that Sophia's work style was very low-key. She would not do any publicity about her work before the contract was signed.

Therefore, not many people in the company knew about these three projects. If he took the contract to his doorstep to be signed, the credit would belong to him!

Ten minutes later, Jacob's car stopped at the parking lot of the Berman Corporation building.

Jacob picked up a contract and got out of the car.

One had to admit that the Jones family's genes were pretty good. Both Sophia and Jacob were extremely good-looking.

Jacob walked into the Plaza and winked at the clerk at the front desk.

Instantly, the girl's face turned red.

"Sir, may I ask who you are looking for?"

"I'm looking for your President, Mr. Walker. "

The corners of Jacob's mouth curled up slightly, reflecting a charming smile.

The girl's breathing became a little rushed, and she quickly lowered her head.

 "Do you have an appointment?"

"Yes, Jacob Jones from The Jones Group. You can check the records," said Jacob, nodding.

The girl hurriedly looked through the records and nodded after a moment.

Sir, Mr. Walker's office is on the 22nd floor. Please take the elevator."

 "Thanks."

Jacob snapped his fingers and walked toward the elevator.

She looked at Jacob's back, reluctant to part with him. Her eyes were deep in thought.

Jacob walked into the elevator, and after a while, the elevator reached the 22nd floor.

Walker's office was the only one on this floor, so Jacob found it very quickly.

At this moment, Walker was standing in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling glass window, overlooking New Orleans.

There was a knock on the door. Walker narrowed his eyes as he looked down.

"Enter," Walker replied in a deep voice.

The office door was pushed open.

 "Hello, Mr. Walker!"

Jacob respectfully called out. His expression became respectful and he was no longer frivolous.

The Berman group's assets were even bigger than Jones Group's, and Warren was the current head of the Berman group and its President.

"Are you here to sign the contract on behalf of Baishi Pharmaceutical Company?"

 Walker turned around and asked.

"Yes, Baishi Pharmaceutical has already discussed the details of the cooperation with your group before this."

Jacob's face was full of smiles.

"Why isn't your general manager, Ms. Sophia the one here?"

Walker pulled out a chair, and after sitting down, he sized up Jacob with an unfriendly look.

Jacob couldn't help but feel a little nervous. 'Didn't they say that they could sign the contract as soon as they brought it here?'

"Mr. Walker, it's like this ..."

Jacob said with a smile as he sat across from Walker.

"Stand up! Who permitted you to sit down?"

Walker's expression changed as he shouted.
