ANGEL POV.
Customers shrank in fear from the intoxicatingly thick atmosphere that enveloped the bar I worked at. I wasn't any better either. I might not have completely shrunk in fear, but the idea of getting on that mans bad side terrified me. And it wasn't even HIM I'm afraid of.
This day was going amazingly, everything was normal and we haven't had any recent visits from this towns savvy villains, but in the back of our minds we knew they'd come back. It was like a lingering fear attached to the backs of our very brains.
Helmeppo was a powerful young man around here all due to his fathers status within the marines. The MARINES! The very same people that swore to protect the world from Pirates are basically being Pirates themselves!
Just thinking about it makes my blood boil, even while risking the potential wrath of Helmeppo and his father.
"Huh? Oh you mean Hughie?" Ezrath, the boy I just met not even an hour ago seemed to be completely unbothered by the fact Helmeppo was essentially picking a fight with him. And a fight with Helmeppo is a fight with Morgan.
'He's new here... I should've warned him!' Guilt, stress and worry all began to pile onto one another watching the interaction between the two. I should've known that Helmeppo would visit upon hearing about Ezrath, but I ended up getting to caught up in trying to figure out the boy myself.
And now he's going to pay the price for it.
Helmeppos face began to contort from his usual high and mighty, prideful glare into one of absolute anger and disbelief. Hell, even I was in disbelief and the other customers cowering in the corners and alongside the walls weren't spared of it either. No one's ever talked to Helmeppo as an equal before- He's always hailed as someone higher ranked.
Except for with his father, but that's only natural.
Morgan is no man to play with.
Kicking Ezrath's chair once more, the wooden stool creaked and the foot rest cracked. Splintering off into hundreds of wooden spikes. I jumped back in surprise, flinching harder than I'm proud to admit. Ezrath however, didn't move at all.
"What's up with that tone, kid?! Don't you know who I am! My status around here!?"
Still holding onto his empty mug of booze, the air suddenly shifted, as if the already heavy atmosphere was drained of it's oxygen. My throat constricted and my bones rattled. I collapsed on the bar, holding myself up with nothing but my arms.
The grip of fear took hold of my heart as I felt tears rush to my eyes and the panic of death loom over me. The screaming and yelping of the other customers, and even Mrs. Ririka reached my ears, letting me know that I wasn't the only one.
Struggling to keep my legs from completely buckling and my mind from giving in to the weight of it all, I glanced at the group of marines, content with the fact that they were currently all shaking in their nice leathered boots from just a glare by Ezrath.
'Haha- Serves you... Right.' The last thing I remember are those very words, accompanied by frantic, horrified shouting and the sounds of gun fire before my mind went blank and my vision following suit.
...
EZRATH POV
The little shit stain collapsed in front of me, his guys pulling the trigger all the while. A mix between a victorious shit eating grin and a look of complete outrage and embarrassment contorted the kids face into a nightmare.
However, that all ceased to exist and a look of shock and fear completely took over. The areas the bullets intended to hit were completely nullified when my body flickered into black flames crackling with black electricity, melting the bullets before they could even pass through.
Setting down the cup in my hands with a soft, calm tap, I stood up. My hands shoved into my pockets while I glared down at the boy like he was nothing but an ant. Every one else in the room was knocked out cold, my killing intent served its purpose well. Taking a quick glance behind me, I saw that Angel was no exception.
"You know... For someone who was bosting about how grand their status was within this town... The look on your face completely ruins that image." I grin, reaching for the purple suited pricks face. The kid was too scared to even move, leaving his fate in my hands like a good little child.
As I expected though, his marine body guards responded better than he did.
"Touch him and we'll k-kill you!" They threatened, holding their guns up once more. My gaze shifted from the pee stenched kid to them, looking at them as if they were idiots. Did they completely forget what happened a moment ago? Bullets won't work on me, let alone any other kind of weapon.
"...Shut the hell up." My other arm flashed out my pocket, gripping the nearest marines throat, lightning crackled loudly off of my hand and enveloped the marine, completely rendering him useless as well as ending his life in the matter of seconds. Charred human meat stunk up the room, and that mixed with purple kids piss was a total disaster.
My noes flared and I cringed backwards. Kicking the guy in the face to help alleviate the smell. The kid grunted and flew straight out the door, crashing into the building across from the bar. The other marine shook in fear, his gaze shifting from the one he was supposed to protect back to the marine that suffered the same fate he was about to take part of.
However, I stopped.
I didn't come here to cause trouble, I came here for a meal and my money. Getting the marines on my back wouldn't help me in anyway, it would only cause trouble. Kicking that marine in the face as well, he joined his boss, crumpled up like a piece of paper.
I stepped out of the bar, dragging the charred marine with me.
"S-stay back! P-please! Don't kill me!" The streets were littered with curious pedestrians wondering what went on within the last couple of minutes and it didn't take them long to figure it out. Gasps and murmurs broke out almost immediately.
"...He caused trouble with Helmeppo!? Oh we're doomed!"
"...Gasp! I-is that marine dead?"
"...Just what the hell is he thinking..."
'Helmeppo? What a dumbass name.' The murmurs and opinions of people who are afraid to stand up for themselves didn't mean shit to me. I've complied with the marines orders to wait for my money, but what I get in return is some prideful bullshit stacked onto a lie?
By this point I was standing directly above the shit stain Helmeppo. Taking in the sight of his scared, shaking appearance. It was nice. But I'm done now.
Throwing his dead body guard in front of him, I turn with a yawn.
"I expect my bounty money within the next two hours. If I don't have it, I'll come for your head next." Glancing over my shoulder, I finish my threat.
"And that's a promise."
The kid shook his head vigorously and scrambled away, his other marine partner that's still alive dragging the dead one behind them.
Shaking off the spectators who now looked at me with complicated expressions, I headed back to the bar. Shaking my head in wonder...
'How did it get so damn dirty... I didn't even do all that much.'
