try to do that, someday." She smiled sweetly at him.

She leaned in for a hug, but before he could return her embrace, she suddenly jerked backwards and ran toward the stairs. "I have to go. Someone might have already figured out what you've done. Go. Now." She commanded him hastily.

Jason sighed heavily as he stood in place watching as the woman disappeared behind the stairs without a single glance at him, not even sparing a last look back. He stood there staring at the spot where she disappeared for a long time. All these years he had waited and waited for the opportunity to talk to her again. And today he finally got it. But for how long? Would the pain of losing her be able to heal him?

The next morning, Jason woke up early. The first rays of sunlight were already beginning to appear through the curtains and the moon had risen high in the sky. He sat up on his bed and started thinking back about the night before. He remembered how everything had gone perfectly according to plan. He remembered all the things that had happened between them, but somehow, he couldn't remember what had happened after. He wondered if something had happened after the kiss; but after all, it had taken less than two seconds for him to completely erase any traces of their encounter. Was it possible that he had imagined it?

No matter how farfetched it sounded, he couldn't shake off the idea that somehow she had gotten the wrong idea and thought that he was trying to kiss her. Although, what if it really had happened? No one knew about the kiss, except for them. He didn't understand why he hadn't told her everything that was going on. He felt ashamed and guilty. It was because of him, that her mother found out that she had become pregnant. And for what? To punish her? Or maybe, she was right. Maybe if he was really honest with himself, if he would have opened up about the truth, she wouldn't have given up on him. She wouldn't have given up on their baby.

His thoughts drifted to their baby. They needed to make things right. They had no choice. They would have to find another way to bring their child back. But he didn't know how to do it. All he knew was he loved her more than anything and everything in this entire world. So if it took him all eternity, he would try to fix the broken pieces that separated them.

He looked down at the watch in his hands. It was almost 7 o'clock in the morning, time for breakfast.

"JASON! WAKE UP!" he yelled as he barged his way into Jason's room.

It was already noon. He should've gone to work hours ago. He must have slept for three or four hours since last night when he returned from patrolling earlier in the day.

He jumped at the sound of his sister's voice calling his name. He rubbed his eyes with his fists before sitting up straight and stretching. He stretched his muscles and yawned as he slowly opened his eyes. He blinked a couple of times and adjusted to the bright sunlight shining through the blinds. He rubbed his eyes again and turned towards the source of the voice before looking over to the right side of his bed where there was a small box with a note sitting on top of it.

He picked it up and read it silently as the events of yesterday flashed back into his mind. There were still a few things that he had yet to explain to her as well.

After reading the letter carefully, he put it back down on the table beside his bed and walked slowly towards the door. Once he exited his room and was standing beside the staircase, he realized something odd. His siblings were already awake and eating breakfast downstairs.

He stopped for a second as he thought. Had something happened while he slept? Why weren't they telling him about it?

He continued walking down the stairs, not even bothering to knock. Once he arrived at the dining area, he noticed that everyone seemed to be in an unusually good mood. Even Benji appeared to be in much better spirits than usual, and it took him a while before he realized that it wasn't only because Benji seemed happier, but also because Jason was wearing new clothes that smelled like lavender shampoo and mint chocolate chip cookies. Everything seemed so innocent that it took Jason's breath away for a second. Everyone was laughing as though nothing happened. Everyone except...his mom. She seemed rather quiet.
