Frustrating

A beautiful woman walked through the busy streets, maintaining an elegant posture. Dressed in shades of blue, the curls of her golden hair fell on her shoulder. A pair of black sunglasses was worn by her, hiding her blue eyes behind them.

Her looks were enough to attract the eyes of passersby.

"Are you sure he is here?" asked the lady.

Removing her shades, she stared at the hospital standing opposite to her. Frustration flashed through those blue eyes.

"Yes, Ms. Vanessa, for the time being," the man replied. The well-dressed man behind her was her assistant.

"If you are wrong then…" she trailed off threateningly.

The assistant shuddered involuntarily and responded, "I am sure he is here. That's what the information indicated."

"For your sake, he better be."

After that, her eyes were on the traffic light, waiting for the color to change, so that she would be able to cross the road.

Amelia, on the other hand, was sent by her coworkers to buy coffee. Upon checking on her watch, she realized the break would be over soon. Her footsteps were rushed as she crossed through the road.

However, in her moment of unawareness, her shoulder bumped against someone else's, and immediately her attention fell towards the cups of coffee.

Relief spread through to see them all being fine; they were just a little shaken up.

"You!" a feminine voice exclaimed.

At this, she lifted her head and conveyed her apologies.

"I am sorry. I wasn't paying attention. Did you—"

Before she was able to carry on further, her eyes widened in recognition. Her lips parted, a gasp escaping through them.. Vanessa paused before extending her hand to remove her pair of sunglasses.

"Amelia?" she enunciated as though seeking for confirmation.

Becoming alert, Amelia replied, "I am not!"

Not wasting a second further, she rushed out of there in hurry, not caring for the calls Vanessa directed towards her. At the same time, anxiety building up inside her got her heart to beat rapidly in her chest.

"Do I go after her, Ms. Vanessa?" the assistant questioned.

"No need to create a scene." She ordered, "gather information on her by today."

"Understood," he obediently replied.

"Finally found you, Amelia."

She smirked as a malicious glint appeared in her eyes.

°°°

Daniel stepped out of the room, surrounded by a couple of doctors, and all of them exchanged words. As Daniel shook his hand with a doctor, his name was called.

"Daniel!"

At the loud voice, he turned his head, and a discernible frown appeared on his forehead for split of a second before wearing the mask of indifference.

Vanessa took the steps towards him before grabbing on to his arm and coquettishly saying, "You came here without leaving behind a word for me. Are you still mad at what happened? I am sorry, hmm? It wouldn't be repeated."

One of the doctors cleared his throat and stated, "Then, I will leave you be, Daniel, to accompany the beautiful lady. Do introduce her to me later."

Daniel pulled away his hand from Vanessa's grip and put distance between both of them before explaining, "There's nothing to introduce. She is just a family member."

The doctor nodded before walking away.

After that, Daniel indicated with his gaze to get Vanessa to follow him. Once both of them entered the emergency exit, he asked, "What do you need?"

"Do I have to need something to come find you? I just missed you." She pouted.

Her beauty might sway many, but Daniel remained unmoved.

Pressing on his forehead, he voiced out, "Haven't I already made it clear to you? Do you want me to put restraint on you?"

The irritation was clear in his tone.

Those blue eyes of hers became watery as her expression fell, and she softly said, "Do you have to be like that?"

"Leave," he ordered, "I am busy. Don't keep on testing my patience."

"Got it. However, in return, let's have dinner together, alright? I already booked a table."

However, he was quick to turn her down.

"I wouldn't be free later."

At this, she stomped her feet in frustration and huffed before bringing forth her complaint: "aren't you being too much? I came all the way here for you, and I don't know anyone in this city. Can't you at least accommodate me a little?"

"Do you need me to book a flight to return home?" he questioned.

She chewed on the insides of her mouth. There was a lot more she wanted to say, but before the words could leave her lips, Daniel said, "I will be going then."

Without waiting for her approval, he walked away.
