My alarm churned waking me up from sleep, it was already morning. I woke up from bed and did all that I had to do as fast as possible to avoid being late for school.
Upon reaching the school entrance, I met Aikens who had also gotten to school just then so we went in together. After the first lesson, I went out of the lecture hall to sit on the lover's bench near the fruit mart.
"May I sit with you?", I turned to the direction of the voice to find Scotts .
Scotts is one of the good looking guys in my class second to Aikens but I wasn't really close to him.
"Oh yeah", I replied making space for him to sit.
"So what are you doing here all alone?", he asked after sitting next to me.
"Just thinking about some stuffs"
"I see", he nodded "can I aske you a question?", he continued
"Sure"
"Is something going on between you and Aikens?", he asked putting a smile on my face because I never thought that was what he wanted to ask.
"We are just good friends, why do you ask?"
"Nothing really, just that off late both of you seem pretty close just like how you entered the hall together "
"Oh that,.. it was just a coincidence, we met at the entrance ", I simply said" if there's nothing more, I'd be on my way now", I said and left.
It seemed it was always a coincidence to be meeting Aikens. Anything I met him too, I felt my heart was at peace and my mind as ease. But the fact that girls were always around him because he was good at playing basketball got me angry, but I didn't want him to know I was feeling that way so I always pretended be cool with it.
One day after he was done training, I sat in the chair at the end of the pitch waiting for him when I noticed the girls approaching him again. I became angry and got up to leave before he noticed I was waiting for him. He left the girls and followed behind me.
"Why are you swelling up like this, it's not good for your health", I knew he was mocking but I didn't mind him." Pretty lady you are the one I'm referring to", he continued.
He then crossed my path stopping me in my tracks.
"Mr gentleman, I don't like the way girls are always around you", I finally said to him when he didn't want me to move.
"My lady is jealous, isn't it"?, he teased.
"And why would I be? Don't get too ahead of yourself gentleman ", I said and pusses him away but he didn't even move an inch. Rather he closed the gap between us and placed a kiss on my cheeks.
"I won't mind those girls , okay", he said and left.
I stood frozen at what just happened' Am I falling for him?', I thought
"Let's go, it's getting dark", he interrupted my thoughts. Before I could realize he was far gone so I had to hurry in other to catch up with him. We finally got to the street where we'd have to go our separate ways but we both stood there not knowing who would make the first move before I finally decided to move ahead.
"Wait Annie ", he called out before hugging me from behind. "Take care of yourself ", he added.
"I'd think about that", I responded with a smile and left him.
I searched through my bag to find my keys as I approached my apartment but I couldn't find it.
"Where could it be", I asked myself in a disturbed tone.
Someone cleared his throat behind me making me turned hesitantly to find who it was. And he was the last person I was expecting to see, Scotts. He was even holding my keys.
"What are you doing with my keys?", I asked when I finally found my voice.
"You left it on the bench you sat on earlier so I decided to bring it to you", he stretched his hand to hand over the keys to me which I took with a smile.
"Thanks a lot"
"No need to thank me"
"Would you like to come in?", I asked when I opened the door.
"Oh no, I'd be on my way now", he said and left without waiting to hear anything from me.
