Chapter 9

After the first lesson, I went out and Scotts followed closely behind.

"Did you enjoy the class?", he asked.

"Of course I did ", I answered quickly. "What was it you wanted to talk about?", i continued to ask. He was still walking behind me as we walked along the pavement. He quickly rushed ahead of me which made me stop moving. He cleared his throat and said," I just remembered, Annie, from the first day I set my eyes in you, I couldn't take my mind off you, not even a second. You easily…"

"Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not interested in such a drama", I cut him off and left. I did that not because I hated him but he was reminding me of how Taylor confessed his feelings for me.

I went to look for Aikens who seemed to have disappeared from the school the whole day.

'Could he be at the basketball pitch', I thought as I made my way to the pitch. To my surprise, the place didn't have even a soul. I became worried and confused. Just as I stood thinking about where I would find him, the school broadcasting room gave an announcement about an accident which occurred in the morning and the injured were sent to the hospital for treatment. After the announcement, I became more devastated.

"Could he be involved ?, stop having silly thoughts', I shoved that thought away but still went saint Mary's hospital where the injured persons were being attended to. I took their records book from one of the nurses and looked through.

"Oh no, this can't be happening ". I cried to myself." Nurse please can I see Aikens William Grant?", I asked one nurse who was pacing by me.

"This way please", the nurse instructed as she led the way to Aikens room and I followed her closely so I won't lose sight of her.

"We are here", she said when she came to a stop behind a door. I opened the door and went in to see Aikens and I was rendered speechless.

I just stared at how he was looking at it hurt my heart to see him in such a position.

"Won't you come and sit?", he said breaking the silence . I walked slowly and sat beside him on the bed.

"How did this happen", that was the only sentence I could form from my lips.

"Let's say, I was feeling lazy to wash my dirty car so I decided to come to school by bus. The driver wanted to escape a heap of sand but unfortunately somersaulted and I ended up here.", he explained as if he was reading a book to a child.

"I'm sorry for not being around all this while, I rushed her just after hearing the announcement ", I apologized.

"Before I forgive you for not being here, you'd have to come and lay beside me"

'What the heck is this silly guy thinking?', I thought. But I had to help him out since he never gave up on me. I had never slept beside a guy before so how was I going to do that?
