"I'm so sorry for your loss darling", I comforted when I saw that she was down.
"It's been a decade since that incident happened so we learnt to leave with it", she said forcing a smile.
"But what happened to them?", curiosity got the best out of me.
"Well, they had an accident on their way to church and just lost their lives on the spot. Luckily, we didn't go with them d that's why we are still alive",
"I'm so sorry for reminding you of winch a pain", I apologized
"No need to apologize, all I need is for you to make my brother happy"
"You have my word little sister, I promise to love Aikens without hurting him", I said making a piggy promise with her.
She left to her room after sometime to ensure she leaves nothing behind. I was sleeping peacefully when some noises woke me up from sleep. I listened carefully to find out where the noise was coming from and noticed it was from Jazzy's room. I quickly went there to find her crying bitterly while packing her luggage.
"Why are you crying little sister?", I questioned her upon touching her shoulder to get her attention.
"I've really missed my family", she said as she turned to hug me tight.
"I don't know how this feels but I think it will be okay", I said to her truthfully since I didn't know how to console her anymore. The truth is, I just lost my dad but I had my mum to cater for me so I had hope. But hers was a whole blast so what she was feeling would be like twice of what I felt.
"And I'd be missing you too", she said hugging me more tight.
"Do you want to break my ribs?", I joked and we both laughed. She let go of me while laughing. "Anyways, you can always come around during your vacation ", I assured her.
"You don't even have to say it, I'd be here even before my vacation ", she joked and we broke out laughing again.
"It's already late, get some sleep now…..I'd be in my room", I told her making me way out of her room.
"Can't you spent the night with me? Please", she asked with a puppy face.
"That wouldn't be bad but you will have to pay me",
"Don't worry, you can have my brother"
"Are you really giving him to me?, he won't be yours anymore if you do this you know?"
"I won't have to worry about him if he's with you, you can take him ", she was really behaving silly at the moment.
"If you say so, don't regret this later"
"I won't, now let's sleep", she said dragging me by the wrist to the bed. We slept off after a while of chatting.
Our sleep was disturbed by Aikens with a knock on the door. He entered immediately after knocking without even asked to enter.
"Have you seen Annie, she's not in her room?", he sounded worried.
"Don't worry about her, she's fine", Jazzy spoke.
"What do you mean by she's fine, I can't find her anywhere in the house and you are saying she's fine?", he was getting angry.
"I'm saying she's fine because she here", he said raising the blanket I was hiding under.
"Hi", I said after being caught.
"What are you doing here? You got me worried"
"Well, Jazzy said she couldn't sleep without me so she sold you out in order for me to stay with her through the night", I said getting up from the bed . Now it was Jazzy's turn to hide under the blanket.
"She sold me out?", he asked confused.
"Yeah, it's more like give and take so from now onwards you are mine alone and not hers", I said giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"Jazzy , you sold your big brother out? That's not bad either, I think I like my new owner", he said wanting to kiss me but I stopped him telling him Jazzy was with us. We both laughed at what was going on before moving to the day's business.
"Jazzy, are you ready?", he asked her directly.
"Ever ready", she answered.
"Okay then, let's get going before you miss your flight "
We escorted Jazzy to the airport after getting ready before going to the law firm. Upon reaching , I noticed all eyes were on me and could here them murmuring. Aikens saw what was going on and asked me to pretend as if nothing had happened. I looked around wanting to find Scotts but he was nowhere to be found. Of course what was I expecting?
We walked to settle in before the lecturer walked in.
"Congratulations to you all, you will be completing your course next month so continue pushing hard", he said more like a closing speech. After talking, he noticed me sitting beside Aikens and asked to see me. I followed him after he had left to his office.
