Chapter 132 - Between stone and lead

"That's all we have, if Azgeda takes another route, then Arkadia would fall in their hands, not that it would gain them much when they don't know how to use it, but still after how much effort we put into it, it would be a shame to lose it just like that."

"You worry too much Byrne. Besides what Octavia told us, I also went to check on the army. Knowing Roan he would bring his entire army through here, after all this route is the fastest and safest route that would lead him to both Mount Weather as well as Arkadia. Not to mention that he and Echo don't have any idea that we are waiting for them."

"Even if they knew we were here, this place is the only passage that isn't filled with carnivorous fauna, so it's either that or risking it all through here. By the way, how are our people? "

"Most, if not all of them are more than happy to get rid of the Azgeda once and for all, especially now that almost every single automatic rifles and LMGs that we had are in position. However, if Azgeda does attack it would be a massacre for them."

Rather than answering, I looked around the canyon, looking at each one of the guards aiming their rifles toward the entrance, ready to fire upon the Azgeda. With the amount of firepower we have here, it wouldn't be far shot to say that we could probably take on the entire Grounder force if they somehow band together and choose to attack us.

Just as I was about to answer, the prince, followed closely by Echo, and a few warriors walked right through the entrance. Shortly after they made it deeper into the canyon, the rest of his army followed, alongside Clarke, Bellamy, and Kane. Judging by the way all three of them were having a bag on their head, Roan must have done it on purpose trying to break them or at least make them more willing to surrender once he wins, at least that's what I tend to believe he thinks.

At the same time, I saw a few of my people getting impatient when the grounders slowly walked through the canyon, and before anyone of them could fire, I decided to use the walkie-talkie and bring them back to reality before they kill our friends.

"I will not repeat myself twice. If by any chance any one of you opens fire at the Azgeda before I give the signal, you will be executed! This is your first and last warning, so you better think twice before you die."

Some of them flinched as soon as they heard my voice, thankfully, in the end, they choose the better option, giving Clarke, Bellamy, and Kane a chance of making it out alive from this ambush.

"Byrne, I'll go down and meet them head-on. If by any chance they do manage to take me down, I want you all to shred them, no matter if that means injuring or even killing the hostages."

"Roger that, Leon. Be careful."

"I'm always careful major, it comes with the territory."

Meanwhile, Roan and Echo who was in the lead stopped when they saw a figure, standing beside a rock, holding a rifle in his hands.

"Halt!"

"There are two ways things can be resolved. So, prince what will you choose?"

Before the prince could answer, Clarke yelled my name in surprise, most likely not expecting me to actually be here in the first place.

"Leon!"

"What? Leon?"

However, instead of talking to me, Roan decided that it would be a smart idea to have his warriors aim their bows at Clarke. I do not know why he would do such a stupid thing, but then again a desperate man would do the unthinkable.

"Archers! Target Wanheda!"

"Are you sure that this would be the best outcome for your people Roan?"

"You are alone, Sky Osleya, it doesn't matter what you think or says, today Skykru would die!"

"I beg to differ."

None of the grounders could have reacted in time for what happened. From above, tens of men and women were armed with the most dangerous weapons known to the grounders. Despite the sheer amount of weapons that could kill them in seconds, Roan stood still glancing at me.

"I underestimate you, Osleya. Though, I'm curious why are you here? And not up there alongside your people?"

"I would lie if I were to tell you that I didn't plan to do that, but thanks to Clarke's mother, there might just be a way for your people to survive or not, depending on your answer."

"What do you mean by that?"

"I'm sorry, but Clarke's the only one here that knows what her mother was doing, so if you want answers you will have to set her free, otherwise, Azgeda would cease to exist."

"Is that a threat?"

"It's a promise."

Even though he was skeptical about all of the things I've said, Roan still got off his horse and freed Clarke. Just as the two of them were about to walk towards me, Echo stopped them, grabbing Roan's shoulder.

"Wait, what if it's a trap?"

"It is a trap. We walked into it the moment we left Polis. I don't know how, but somehow he knew about us marching towards their camp."

When Roan turned back to answer Echo, a dozen of green dots appeared along his chest, ready to take down the prince if he so desire. For some reason, Clarke smiled a little, as if she was happy to see that we haven't forgotten about them. Before the situation could get worse, Roan alongside Clarke came to me before all three of us went into the woods as one by one the green dots drop away from him. However, one lone dot lingered on the prince a full minute longer than the others, before it also drops away. As soon as Roan, Clarke, and I were out of sight, Echo takes up command.

"The king is clear. Archers, the first gunshot you hear, lose your arrows. Infantry, on my command, scatter and climb. Kill until there's no one left!"

Beside her, Kane scoffs, finding Echo's orders funny and in all honesty, he was right, after all, there was almost no chance for them to even make it out of there alive considering what "Skykru" had brought here.

"This is insane, they knew you were coming. We have thousands of rounds, you'll be the ones with no one left."

As soon as Kane mentions Skaikru having the element of surprise, a hopeful look passes over Bellamy's face. Kane saw the expression on Bellamy's face, and he looked at the older Blake, not understanding why would he look so glad.

"What's wrong Bellamy?"

"They thought they had the element of surprise, but we did. Someone warned them."

"You think it was Octavia? From all we know, Leon could have been inside Polis as well, after all that's something he might just do."

"She's alive."
