Chapter 38: Just a Taste

"I think maybe it's best for you to not attend any classes for the time being," Mum said from the kitchen and Dad placed the paper he had been reading on the table in front of him.

I looked at Dad and I could see a vein twitching on his forehead. This was not good but thankfully Mum was in the kitchen so she couldn't see the look he was making.

"What is wrong with you Riley?" he shouted as she stood up and went into the kitchen. I got up as well and tucked my phone in my back pocket and followed after him.

Ms. Wells had called home and filled Mum in on everything yesterday but since Dad hadn't been around, she hadn't said anything, just fretted over me and my health. I entered the kitchen and stood by the door, afraid to enter completely knowing what was going to happen after. I watched as Mum chopped up onions and carrots and Dad was standing next to her like a stormy cloud giving you a warning sign that it was going to pour soon.
