Chapter 10- Sharon

Jared drove up to a huge, dark mansion. Vines and tree branches covered all the windows, and a cobblestone walkway led up to the small staircase. Shaun gave Jared questioning looks.

"This was my runaway house." he finally responded. "I always came here when my family and I had a huge fight, which was very often."

"Where was this house when I wanted to run away?" Shaun said as she looked around.

Jared chuckled and led her to the front door. He opened the massive iron doors, revealing a spacious living room painted black with mosaics on the walls and ornate rugs and carved statues. The furniture was all black and dusty, but it was as dark as it was warm and cushy.

"I'll have my maid clean this up." Jared told her, "But your room is okay."

"Are you going to stay here too?" Shaun pouted.

"I will, but some days I will not be here. My maid will look after you then."

Shaun sighed and looked down sadly. Jared lifted her chin, "We have to keep this a secret, if my family finds out about you and the baby, you'll be in direct danger so if there's anything you need, Sharon will get it for you, just promise you'll always stay inside."

"Who is this 'Sharon person'?" Shaun asked.

"She was my nanny when I was younger. She's the only person I trust," he told her.

"What if I get bored?" she grumbled. "No offence, but this house is old and creaky."

"Is that so?" Jared smirked. "Let's give you the grand tour, shall we?"

The first room on the tour was Shaun's. The decor differed immensely from the living room as the furniture was dark purple with matching purple and blue rugs and drapes, and the bedspread was purple with many stuffed animals. There was also a brand-new laptop and a tablet in the room.

Shaun smiled a bit. "Okay, I guess I won't be as bored as I thought."

Jared smirked again. "Well, I guess since you're already satisfied, Sharon will continue the tour with you tomorrow. Freshen up and come downstairs when you're through. I have something for you."

After Shaun had her warm bath, she changed into something more comfortable and headed downstairs as instructed.

"In here," Jared called out. She followed the voice to a grand dining room that was as eerie as the living room.

Jared sat around a huge dining table that was filled with food especially meat. Jared pointed to a chair beside him. There was a nice portion of medium rare steak on the plate. Immediately after she sat down, she started filling her mouth with the meat. She stopped when she realised Jared was staring at her in amusement.

Shaun placed the knife and fork down in embarrassment. "I'm not usually like this," she explained.

"I know." he chuckled. He wiped her lips with a paper towel.

They continued eating in silence until Shaun placed her fork down.

"Your intense stares and this eerie silence are creeping me out," she confessed.

"My apologies." He said, smirking, "You're just really beautiful."

He came closer to her. "As I said before, I didn't mean for any of this to happen, I swear."

Shaun nodded and looked down. "I'm sleepy."

11:46 pm

"Can you lay with me?" Shaun softly.

"Um sure," Jared answered, getting onto the bed.

She snuggled close to him. He could hear the baby's heart pumping. Jared placed his ear on her tummy and listened closely. "Be good to your mom," he whispered, as Shaun slept on. "I'll be back in a few days." He kissed her belly and fell asleep.

8:54 am

Shaun woke up alone with no morning sickness. She looked all around for Jared, but there was no sight of him.

She washed up and quickly went downstairs. There was a tall, beautiful young woman with shoulder-length dark brown hair and green eyes. She stood at the end of the staircase as if she knew Shaun was coming down.

"I'm Sharon," she said, smiling, revealing her deep cheek dimples. "I'll be taking care of you and I'm here to ensure the safety of you and your baby.
