Becoming a Sales Agent

Chapter Fifty-Seven

Want to join me? You can apply as a sales agent for the resort, and if you wish to earn more, you can also sell houses in high-end subdivisions.

Back in Korea, Hwan Chul came to Hyun-Ki and was very angry at him. He controlled his fury, even how much he would like to punch Hyun-Ki. "How was your travel? Did everything turn out well?" asked Hyun-Ki.

"Have you ever wondered how Rielle was doing now that you left her, Hyun? And all you asked was the turn-out of our purpose, and you did not even have the nerve to ask about Rielle?" Hwan Chul said, still controlling his anger.

"What is there more to ask, Hwan? I knew she could take care of herself. Was she happy about the condo and the gift of half the sale from eomma?" Hyun-Ki was anxious.

"Rielle refused everything, the passbook in her name that I was supposed to return to her, your condo, and half of the sale of our house; she rejected them all. And you know what she wanted? Her freedom from you, Hyun-Ki, her freedom!" Hwan Chul yelled dismay at Hyun-Ki's attitude, then left, banging everything in Hyun-Ki's room and bedroom door.

Hyun-Ki fidgeted at Hwan Chul's angry behavior. He felt sad about Rielle's refusal to accept everything he left and, at the same time, praised her for being unselfish and undemanding. Unknown to them, Hyun-Ki was only pretending of his uncaring attitude toward Rielle. He had to be firm in his decision to leave Rielle because he could no longer bear Rielle's sacrifices in caring for him. He thought mistreating her, and being hard on her, would make her give up and leave him, but it turned out differently from his expectations. Hyun-Ki was afraid of his condition; what if he could never see or walk again? What is left for Rielle but unhappiness and discontent, and he cannot bear this? He had to keep things on his own so that maybe if he were left alone would help himself recover fast, without seeing Rielle suffer as he does, which would only make him weaker. All of these are only for a show. But he feared if he could still return to Rielle; now that he learned from Hwan Chul, all she wanted was her freedom. He had to act fast.

Days, weeks, and months passed, and Hyun-Ki was gradually recovering. He secretly hired a detective to conduct surveillance on Rielle. He wanted to know how she was doing and where she was working. But then, later on, the detective lost his oversight of Rielle. He cannot find under his radar Rielle's whereabouts. After a few more weeks of inquiry, the detective told Hyun-Ki that Rielle had flown out of the country to work, although the country she went to was unknown. Her present address was for lease, so no traces of her family could be found. Hyun-Ki was distraught. He thought maybe he overdid his drama. He felt that all the preparations he made were a failure. He has nothing else to look forward to, no reason to go back, so he decides to stay.

Returning to Rielle's new freedom, she assisted her sister Donna in preparing for her wedding to Attorney Drew Gonzalo. She was more excited than the bride and was very into her sister's wedding gown and her wedding planning. Their wedding date was two more weeks, and Rielle was very busy managing Donna's entourage.

"What are your plans after the wedding, Donna? Have you decided to leave our house and move to Drew's place?" Rielle felt a little sad because she won't see Donna normally anymore. "Yes, because Drew is alone in his newly built house, and his parents have their place, and perhaps mom can live with us as soon as Zia flies to Canada after my wedding. And you, my dear, are also thinking of following Zia to Canada, right?" Donna replied with high hopes for her two sisters.

"Mom must stay with me first while I am here. It's so kind of gloomy at home if you're taking Mom while I am still here; that's sad and unfair," Rielle made them feel her sadness.

"Don't worry, Rielle, I will always visit you and mom very often; just remain the usual you, vibrant and optimistic," said Donna encouragingly.

Everything turned out enthusiastically on the day of Donna and Drew's wedding. The crowd was excited and in high spirits, mainly when the bride and groom ate their cake and kissed. Rielle felt a pinch in the heart, and she couldn't avoid the tears falling. She can't help recalling her civil wedding; unmindfully, she held her necklace and looked at it longer. Recall that this necklace made her go back to when Hyun-Ki hung this around her neck after their lovemaking during their simple honeymoon after their civil wedding.

"This necklace was in pair, Sweetheart. See this half-moon? The other half is mine, and this will always put us together no matter what the circumstance is; these half-moons will always bring us together to become one, remember that, hmm, Sweetheart?" Rielle thought that this was the only thing she kept to herself, having not returned to Hyun-Ki. Now she asked herself, "why didn't I ever remember to return it?" she kissed the half-moon and continued playing it with her fingers while watching the crowd of her sister's wedding in total exhilaration and enthusiasm.

Rielle felt so gloomy in her room. She could feel the emptiness around her, and this made her weep. And silently whispering, "if only, if only…" and fell asleep out of exhaustion.

It was a very early morning plan which made Rielle move swiftly. She quickly walked to the bathroom, took a short shower, ran back to her bedroom, and dolled up dashingly.

"Mom, I'm applying today as a secretary in an advertising company. Wish me luck," she called for a cab and drank her tea while waiting.

She was walking briskly when a lady called out her name.

"Gabrielle Calma!" called out her name. She stopped trying to recognize the caller and when up-close, "why Phoebe! How are you! You're so lovely!" praised Rielle.

"And so are you; it was good you still remember me, huh? College days, right?" Phoebe greeted her with a kiss on the cheek.

"Why shouldn't I? You were always following Hwan Chul, almost stalking him," chuckled Rielle.

"Well, that's how crush meant, right? But anyway, how are you, still single, Rielle?" asked Phoebe. "Yes, still single, but how are you doing? Do you have an office here?" Asked Rielle curiously.

"No, I came from an advertising firm and offered their manager this resort I am marketing."

"You're a sales agent? Was it fun?" Rielle became more curious.

"What do you think? Just look at me, Rielle." She very proudly displayed herself to Rielle.

"Want to join me? You can apply as a sales agent for the resort, and if you wish to earn more, you can also sell houses in high-end subdivisions. I worked to a company whose business is real estate and hotel resorts. And mind you, our CEO owns some noted big hotels and resorts and is also into real estate. He was a Japanese and so handsome and dashing, Rielle." Phoebe was thrilling in describing her big boss.

"Really? I mean that work you are telling me, I want to get in, Phoebe, it seems interesting and fun!" Rielle was insistent and forgot about her interest in applying to the advertising firm.
