Chapter 42

Around 8 am, the front desk worker points out Paul's lawyer as he approaches me.

"Arcadia, may I help?"

"Why?"

Paul mentions Brooke in practically every discussion, and I've seen him several times. After our first night together, he saw me practically nude on film. Never directly.

Now we must.I read Paul's letter.

"What's this?"Brooke glances over the letter and says, "I don't know, but I suppose Paul is explaining his actions."

"Let me read it," I say, opening the letter. Brooke grabs my arm and leads me to a couch.

I exhale and start. "Dear Arcadia," I say. I grin at his glance and keep walking.

"These days without you have been fucked," I read. I read and grin at Brooke. He smiles and shakes his head. He has a sense of humor, and I can understand why Loefel finds him appealing.
