Author's Note:

>> Congratulations to us, everyone!

We have reached 50 chapters in this story. It's been more than a year since I started writing this fanfic, and even though there have been some troubles causing me to be quite inconsistent, I am still writing.

I have written more than 75K words in this series and am going to continue to write as long as you support me and my work. So even though I may feel a bit inconsistent, bear with me.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart!

Arther pushed his silver Mana inside Rudeus through his belly button.

His Mana slowly but silently wrapped around Rudeus's Mana Pool and started devouring his excess Mana Pool that he was supposed to get because of the [Laplace Factor].

As soon as this happened, Rudeus's body shuddered violently.

[Warning!]

[Fate is detecting deviations in its path to destiny.]

[It is looking for an alternative path to destiny.]

[Path set.]

[Fate has transferred Rudeus's consciousness to Hitogami ahead of time.]

Hmmm.

Arther silently heard the cold voice of All-Seer in his head. When he realised what had happened, he was a little taken aback, but he kind of expected the consequences.

'Still, let's just try once.'

He tried to fully consume Rudeus's Mana Pool by pushing a significant quantity of Mana into it as soon as he had that thought.

But…

How could Fate let him do that?

Arrgh!

Arther suddenly felt a piercing pain across his entire being. He let out a silent groan as Mana around him stopped listening to him.

[Fate's backlash is triggered.]

[The Mana around you considers you an adversary.]

Simultaneously, Arther's Mana Core created a barrier around himself to lessen the excruciating pain he was experiencing and stabilise the Mana in his body.

'Fuck! I shouldn't have done that; this is too painful.'

[Fate is stirring awake the World's Will and calling for your expulsion from the world.]

'Shit! I need to stop.'

As soon as Arther realised what happened, he cut off his Mana from Rudeus's body.

[Fate has detected that Rudeus's is safe and stopped.]

[Fate is rerouting the path to destiny based on the variables induced.]

Phew-!

'That was too close. Kuh!' Arther felt a taste of iron in his mouth. He forcefully swallowed back the blood that rose up to his throat.

At the same time, the Mana around him also calmed down and returned to normal.

'At least, his Mana Pool will not be as outrageous as in the story and will be more like normal human mages.'

Yup!

Arther didn't just leave empty-handed. He was able to devour all of Rudeus's extra Pool that he was going to get as a result of the [Laplace Factor].

It was because of that Fate had to change the path, aka the storyline, to reach destiny.

Still, the backlash was awful, as he felt every pore of his body aching due to Mana acting so adversely against his body.

Arther got to know a lot about the workings of fate from this incident.

[You have successfully stolen Rudeus's biggest perk.]

[Luck: 9680 >>> - 500 >>> 9180.]

First of all, he realised that his approach with regards to most of the things was wrong.

'No matter what I do, as long as I don't convince Fate that I can produce a better destiny than the one it sought out, it will support the protagonist selected by the World's Will.' He pondered.

What it meant was that Fate had taken Luck from the World's Will in exchange for the protagonist. It had to give proper protection to the chosen one. And it would continue to do so until the Luck runs out.

Arther had to do two things to get out of this seemingly disadvantageous situation for himself.

One was to convince the World's Will that he was a better alternative for its objectives than the chosen protagonist to get its favour.

And two, zero out, the protagonists borrowed luck so that the Law of Equivalent Exchange was completed, as the Fate would do anything to fulfill the agreement between itself and the World's Will.

'On that note, All-Seer, is Fate some kind of spirit or something like the World's Will.' He asked just to get an idea if Fate could somehow target him since he was going to hunt down a lot of protagonists in the future.

[No.]

'So how does it regulate the laws?'

[It doesn't regulate. Just like normal humans from your original world can't live without oxygen, every being in existence can't live without having a Fate.]

'I understand. So basically, all the Chinese novels that I read about the protagonists trying to be free of Fate were shit. Because even their thinking and trying to be free of Fate was accounted for by their fate.'

[Something like that.]

[That is why I consider the people whom you call extras to have the freest existence.]

'I can see why. After all, only people like them have balanced fate with equality in both good and bad.

And this also makes me fearful about my own existence; I haven't faced something really bad yet.'

[No, you have. For example, getting dumped in garbage in this life, being an orphan in your first one, and many more.]

[Still, you should be careful, as your gains have increased significantly, so I believe your losses will too.]

'Any idea how I can negate the bad luck coming my way?' Arther asked. After personally witnessing how cruel Fate was, he was worried.

[Do good for the people around you. Or change the world itself for good, in your case.]

'I see. I never imagined it was so simple.'

[You see. If you can use the system correctly, then Fate cannot harm you since you are not going to pile up either good or bad karma.]

Hmmm.

Arther nodded in understanding and pondered, 'This also means even if I hit on Zenith and Lilia, that won't have an impact on the story as long as I don't exceed the limits by completely eliminating Paul until his purpose is over.'

This was his second realisation, and he couldn't be more happy learning it.

'Still, should I even get involved with them physically? I mean, Paul would still get to fuck them after I leave.

I dunno, but it doesn't sound right that even after becoming my woman, they are touched by someone else.' He thought for a second.

Arther didn't have a problem with women who had relations with other men before becoming his, but which MAN would want his women to be touched by others?

Hence, after making Zenith and Lilia his, it would be quite uncomfortable for him to imagine them in other men's arms.

Sigh-!

'I will think about that later.' Arther took that thought out of his mind since there were more important things on his plate right now than fucking.

He held the sleepy Rudeus in his arms and shook him as he said, "Rudeus, wake up!"

Rudeus snapped open his eyes and looked at Arther in a scrutinising way.

Arther acted as if Rudeus were asking why he was in his arms and replied, "Your mother asked me to take you downstairs. It's time for breakfast."

With that, he took Rudeus downstairs.

-----

Back to the moment when Arther pushed his Mana into Rudeus's Mana Pool.

The sleeping Rudeus suddenly felt jolts of pain spreading throughout his entire being. The agony coming from his body was so severe that it caused him to open his eyes.

But.

The sight he saw in front of him shocked him to his core.

"Yo! Rudeus-kun, it's nice to meet you. I am Hitogami."

"!?"

-----

In front of Laws's house.

After completing his breakfast, Arther and Elinalise went to the village to meet with Laws, just as he had promised.

Laws had already informed him where his house was, so he easily found his home.

Tuk! Tuk! Tuk!

"Laws, it is me, Arther." Arther called.

Click-!

The door opened, and Laws greeted Arther and Elinalise with a smile.

"Lord Shura, it is an honour to host you. I never really imagined that you would come to my abode. So you have my immense gratitude."

"It is fine, Laws." Arther replied with a smile, while Elinalise continued to look at Laws in shock.

After all, Laws was both her grandson and son at the same time, considering she was both his mother and grandmother, as she had fucked both his father and his father's father.

Of course, Laws didn't know that, and Elinalise wanted to keep it that way.

Arther looked at Elinalise and softly whispered in her ears, "Don't worry, Lise. Just like you wanted, I will give them the good life that you hoped for."

Arther remembered how Elinalise expressed her regrets to him when she finally decided to become his and only his.

Laws's family was the biggest one of her regrets!

Her curse destroyed this family; after all, she couldn't control the curse when it went berserk and ended up fucking her son right in front of her then-husband.

This disaster destroyed their family and became her biggest regret and cause of pain, causing her to hate herself.

Elinalise shuddered for a moment before Arther held her hands and said, "Like I said that time. You won't have any regrets about your past being with me."

Her eyes became slightly moist as she whispered to Arther, "Thanks!"

Laws couldn't understand what was happening and kept his eyes down, as he didn't want to anger Arther and miss this only opportunity he had to save his daughter.

"Alright, Laws, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" Arther asked.

"Before that, I want you to see my daughter." Laws said as he went inside the room and brought little Sylphiette wrapped in his arms.

The little girl looked at Arther and Elinalise curiously, as if trying to understand what kind of enigma they were.

"She is beautiful and cute." Arther said.

Contrary to his compliment, both Elinalise and Laws were flabbergasted because they never thought he would compliment her rather than point out her bright green hairs.

After all, a child with such bright green hair was either killed or condemned with damnation, not complimented.

"Arther, you realise that child has green hair." Elinalise asked.

"So what, Lise? She is cute too, ain't she?" Arther replied.

Sigh-!

Elinalise sighed, realising that she couldn't do anything now.

Meanwhile, Laws was completely flustered as he tried to say something, but nothing came out of his mouth.

"I realise what you are trying to ask. So how about this? Join as a guard of mine."

"L-Lord are y-you sure?" Laws couldn't help but ask while stuttering. He never imagined that Arther would actually help him and his daughter.

"Yup! You heard that right. Join me as a guard. In return, you get to protect and raise your own daughter as you wish." Arther confirmed.

"Thank you! Thank you, my lord. I swear that I will give my life to you for this favour. Laws cried as he bowed and thanked Arther.

"Nah! I don't need your life. I just don't want the child to grow up without a parent. So just raise her well." Arther said.

"I promise I will raise her to the best of my efforts." Laws firmly replied.

'Hey, All-Seer, this can also be counted as a good deed, isn't it?'

[Yes. But it is negligible in your case.]

'Whatever, my main goal was to divert the plot anyway. And it was a success.'

[Fate has detected a diversion in the original path.]

[Fate is adjusting the path depending on the changes introduced.]

[You have successfully stolen Rudeus's Luck.]

[Luck: 9180 >>> - 50 >>> 9130.]

Arther smiled in satisfaction, realising that his tests were successful.

'Just the right amount...'
