There was a sudden knock on the door, and before Li Xin and Su Anya could respond, it was pushed open. Li Xin's mother, Mrs. Li, stepped into the room, and behind her, Li Alan walked in.
Li Xin's eyes widened in shock as she jumped up. 'Mom! What are you doing here?'"
Mrs. Li took in the scene—crumpled paper balls scattered across the floor and more littered across the desk buried under a mess of crumpled pages and scattered notes. Her face set in a disapproving frown, Mrs. Li marched over to her daughter, twisting her ear and scolding her. "Look at this mess! Even a pigsty would be cleaner than this room of yours!'"
Li Xin winced in pain, her face burning with embarrassment. "Brother, please close the door. Mom's lecture is humiliating enough without an audience."
Alan left the door ajar instead of closing it and teased, "Being lectured by Mom won't ruin your reputation. If anything, it sets an example for everyone to keep their workplace clean."
