Throughout the day the siege kept on and Vincent still helped during the morning but after noon he was told to rest. At nightfall in the darkness a messenger came to take Vincent along with him to the capital. The by each side of the messenger stood two Guards that were reassigned as escorts. They were not members of the Milita like Shak but rather guards that during peace times would defend Lord Cyprus's Household.
Vincent was guided towards a small hut near the walls. The building looked like a normal house but there were no residents living there. Instead there was another Guard from the Cyrus Household. The guard walked to the center of the hutt and opened up a hidden cellar. Vincent and the Messenger alongside thier two escorts were guided into the cellar. It seemed like eveyone expect for Vincent was already accustomed to this prosidure. Vincent assessed that it was highly probable that they already did this countless times.
What Vincent thought was a cellar ended up being a hidden tunnel. Each of the escorts lit up a torch to create light. The Tunnel that came into Vincents eyes was surprisingly long. In went in a strait light for so long that the torches couldn't light It all up. When vincent looked at the roof he was suprised to see that it could easily collapse. This was definitely a defence incase the tunnel ever falls in to enemy hands than the guard at the hut could just collapse it on all the invaders.
The four walked in silence. Vincent walked after step with only the torches fire to provide any lighting. Eventually Vincent stood infornt of a few stairs. The four had reached the end of the tunnel. When Vincent looked up he saw two sturdy trap doors at the top of the stairs.
The four climbed out as the walked out. The exit of the tunnel was well places with dense bushes around to help hide the exit wich itself was hidden imbetween two mounds. Just as Vincent was about to walk out he thought he saw a black blury object at the side of his eye but when he turned to look he saw nothing. It was almost like a black pole or maybe a a tree. Vincent didn't have much time to waste though as he sucked into the deepth of the woods alongside the Messenger.
As the trews became denser and denser Vincent was starting to feel calmer and calmer. After all if he's hidden in the woods he would be safe. Occasionally the four would hear rustling and somtimes it even startled the two Guards enough to unsheath thier swords but it was almost always just the wind moving a plant or a animal that would soon run away or try to remain hidden.
Once again the four heard the same rustling sound as the last few times. The guards sheathed thier swords once more. But this time no animal scampered away. Instead Vincenthear shouting.
Unknown voice: "Identity yourself!"
The four remained slighlemt as they tried to remain hidden with both the plantlife abd the cover of darkness to aid them. Still the two Guards readied thier weapons.
Unknown voice: "Identity yourself or we will kill you!"
Soon two armourered figures became visible to Vincent's eyes. Vincents eyes widened when he noticed who they were. Knights! Vincent knew that Knights were no joke. Unlike anyone fighting in the Milita all Knights were trained in combat from a young age. And unlike the two Household guards escorting the messenger these Knights were all members of nobility.
Knight: "So you have chosen death, the three of you shall die today!"
The messenger suddenly began to sprint in the other direction completely giving up on hiding. It seemed to the two Knights immediately began to chase him. They momentarily forgot about the others allowing the two Guards to ambush them. The first Guards tackled one of the Knights from infornt while the other leaped out from behind as his speer glowed in a yellow light. Vincent was Dhoked to see that the guard knew weapon arts as his speer glowing speer penetrated the Knights armour stabbing him straight through his shoulder. The knight let out a scream of pain thay alerted his allie. The other other Knight turned around and slashed at the guard. The word effortlessly slicef the guards head off. The Knights were covered from head to toe in heavy armour but the guards only head thier chests covered alongside a helmet. The other guard jumped backwards abandoning his speer inorder to avoid a second slash from the Knights. The injured Knight got up and started to dislodge the speer in his shoulder while his allie was chasing the now unarmed guard. Vincent knew that he would stand no chance against the knighrs alone and he didn't even know his way around these woods. With no guid he would have no chance of returning to the capital thus despite his fears screeching at him to run away he instead started to slightly sneek towards the knight.
The knight was letting our curses non stop the likes of wich Vincent had never head before. Eventually the knight managed to pull out the speer and throw it aside into a nearby bush. Just as he turned around he saw a sword coming for his face. The knight immediately raised his sword that began to glow in a dark brown light. But before it could hit its target Vincent's sword went in straight through the Gap in the knights armour stabbing him between the eyes.
Vincent stood still in shock as the knight fell backwards like a puppets whos strings had been cut. The knights armoured corpse smashed into a tree where it did not move from again. The man was dead and it was Vincents fault. He killed a noble knight of the kingdom. Even if it was to survive and the Knights was a traior it did not change the mental shockeave in Vincents. Mind. The only reason he snapped out of it was because he could hear shouting nearby. The guard was running towards Vincents direction again. Vincent quickly got the speer and shouted to the guard to catch it. Vincent thew the speer with its tip reversed inorder to not injure the Guard.
The Gaurd caught the speer and independently turned around. His speer glowed in Yellow once more as the knight charged towards them. Trees hit the Knights armour as they would then get smashed in half, while the Knights sword glowed in a white light as it released bright blue sparkles. Vincent tried to slow the knight fown by throwing a wateer ball at him yet it harmlessly spashed against the Knights armour. Fortunately for Vincent the Guards speer was longer than the Knights sword thus when the two clashed the speed penetrated the Knights kneem that combined witht he knighets momentum caused the knight to miss the Guard and even lose balance and fall. The Knigjts mass and momentum caused him to smash into a thick tree with so mush force that the tree titled sideways exposing much of its roots. Before the Knight Could get up he was ruthless stabbed from behind by the Guard. The speer penetrated the Knights neck and mere moments later the Knight was no more.
Guard: :"Wheres the other Knight?"
Vincent pointed at other the dead knights corpse leaning against a tree.
Guard: "Kid your one lucky bastard."
Vincent: "The only reason i could sneek up on him was because they thought there were only three of us."
Guard: "You think i wouldn't know?"
Vincent: "Your not a ordinary guard are you?"
Guard: "I am but humble guard."
Vincent: "Humble maybe, but i never said humble i said ordinary. You must the best guard of the Cyrus Household.:
Guard: "Kid i must stop you there. I can tell you im not the best. Now let me call back out mutual freind here."
The Gaurd opened his pouch and took out a wired insturment that made a weird clicking sound by hitting two sticks together. Soon the two heard the same clicks from the distance. The guard than stopped using the instrument as he returned it into his pouch.
Guard: "Know we know where each of us is in comparison to the others location. we will walk towards him and he will walk towards us."
Vincent: "Isn't the messenger armed? Why did he imidietly run away?"
Guard: "Lord Cyruses orders. There are two reasons. Firstly it distrscts the enemy and focrses them to split thier attention. Secondly you must not forget that delivering the message is the top priority thus if only one of us can make a escape it will always be the messenger."
Eventually the two saw a man walking in thier direction. It was the messenger. Once reconverged the trio continued on thier way to the capital.
