Rest

Mary opened her eyes. She pushed her body up from the floor, rubbing her eyes.

Suddenly, her eyes widened as she noticed she was in the lightly dim room.

Did I fall asleep? She thought. Wait, the lady!

She turned her head directly to her right. But there wasn't a lady on the floor nor there were blood stains.

Then, she noticed the palms of her hands which she thought she put on the floor, were cold and soft.

She glanced down at the floor and noticed her hands were placed on Lucius's chest. She panicked and crawled backward until she hit an armchair.

Not only did I fall asleep but I fell asleep on his chest!? She thought her face was turning as red as a tomato.

Suddenly, a memory of last night struck her head.

I petted his head last night too! Ahh...I'm so dead if he doesn't like it.

A hiss in front of her cut her out of her thoughts. She glanced in front of her and saw Lucius laying asleep, his face facing her.

She observed him for a little while and noticed his severe injuries were still bleeding but not as bad as last night.

She crawled toward him and touched his bleeding hand, gently. Her eyes were swimming with concern. She stood up, her ankle was stinging a little but it wasn't as bad as the first time.

She wobbled toward a cabinet, hoping to find a first aid kit. She searched the cabinet for a while but couldn't find any.

Why did I think, there were anyway? She thought in disappointment.

She slowly wobbled back to Lucius's side. She sat down in front of him and ripped some pieces of clothes from her shirt.

She gently wrapped her cloth around his hand, the skin was ripped off by the webs.

She tried her best to not hurt him that much. As she was about to tie a knot on the clothes.

She whispered to him. "It's going to hurt."

She tightened his wound and he woke up, hissing in pain. His tail almost hit Mary when he pushed himself back from her. Mary sat there with a cloth in her hands, stunned.

Lucius saw Mary and let his guard down. He wanted to slither back to Mary but the pain in his wounds prevented him from doing so.

Mary said with concern."Sit there."

She slowly crawled to him. He hissed, confused when he saw a cloth around his hand.

"I was trying to help you patch up your wounds. But it seems like I don't have to now."Mary said.

He looked at Mary with those pitiful yellow and green eyes and gently rubbed his bleeding injuries, pitifully.

Mary sighed."Are you even a teenager?"

Then, proceeded to mend his wounds with her clothes.

After she was done, Lucius kept staring at the cloth wrapped around his injuries.

"What is it? Did it loosen?"Mary said, worriedly.

Lucius shook his head and indicated his finger to the cloth and Mary's shirt.

"Oh...ya, that's from my shirt."

Lucius looked at her, took her hands and shook them, thankfully.

"Hey! There's nothing to be grateful about. You saved me after all."She said, slightly blushing.

For some reason, Lucius kept staring at her, excepting for something.

"What is it?"

Lucius looked slightly sad when Mary didn't understand.

He took Mary's hand and put it on his head.

Mary blushed, red."Wait! You remember!?"

He seemed confused and nodded.

"I thought you can't remember from the blood loss!"

He shook his head and slimed, innocently.

I'm dead. I'm so dead...But it doesn't seem like he hates it. Mary thought. Does he perhaps like it? Like my little brother.

She slowly moved her hand and placed it on his head, petting him. He purred softly while smiling. Even though he likes it, she could see his cheeks blushing slightly, not used to it.

So cute! So soft! I think I'm going to die from the cuteness! She thought while keeping a gentle smile on her face.

Even though Mary didn't want to stop but she had to.

"Let's stay here for the night."Mary said.

He tilted his head sideways, confused.

"Well, you're injured and weak now after the fight."

Lucius nodded in understanding. He beamed at Mary while thinking.

She cares about me. I need to protect her with all my strength. I don't want to lose anyone anymore.
