Why?

Mary stroked Lucius's silky white hair and whispered.

"Thank you for harming your brother for me. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have escaped from his grasp." She stayed silent for a few seconds and continued. "Wait here for a sec. I promised I'll give your brother what he deserves."

She slid her hand off of his hair and stood up. She turned to face Lucius's older brother, who was looking back at Mary with anger in his eyes. He was still holding his stomach with one hand while the other one was dangling loosely.

"You damn bitch!"He yelled."I gave you a chance to beg me. But look at you...you refuse and continue to be stubborn so...(his eyes glow devilishly)don't go begging when I slowly rip you apart!"

He dashed toward Mary with his limbs on four. His smile was wide like an insane maniac. His tail was swinging around crazily and his ears were folded back while dashing at her. Mary unknowingly glanced back, desperate to find something to defend herself.

Then, she saw a shiny thing next to Lucius. Without hesitation, she snatched it. It turned out to be the pen that Mary gave him when she first teach him how to write. Mary didn't think much about it and stabbed it into the man's eye when he was within her reach.

The man screamed in pain as blood poured out of his eye. Mary slowly stepped back and fell to the ground. She was breathing heavily. She was shocked at how she managed to hurt him.

She didn't believe she was able to hurt him. She knew it was all thanks to Lucius who was able to weaken him.

But too bad it wasn't over, he pulled out the pen and threw it on the ground.

"You bitch! This isn't over! When I get my hands on you, I'll slowly torture you. I'll rip your limbs one by one and-" He stopped. His face turned pale with a disbelief look.

Mary saw his expression, it was a good chance to escape as she was about to stand back up. A hand unexpectedly wrapped around her waist from behind. She panicked, she didn't know what to do.

Then, a heavy warm thing rested on her shoulder, growling. She turned her head and saw Lucius, resting on her shoulder. She was amazed at how he was still able to sit up, his blood was dripping so much that it seemed impossible for him to still be alive. (At least if he was a normal human)

He continued to growl at his brother as he wrapped his tail around Mary and himself like his tail was a wall in front of them.

His brother was so stunned that he couldn't move. Then, he suddenly fell backward and landed on the ground. Mary saw him fall to the ground but she didn't care much. She touched Lucius's face with both her hands.

"Why are you sitting up!?" She said after she snapped out of her amazement. "Lay down! Quick! Don't force yourself to do anything anymore! Your body can't handle it! Look at how injured you are. You're bleeding a lot...I don't have anything to help you. Why am I always so useless?"

Lucius hissed at her and show a painful, yet happy smile. Mary felt tears forming in her eyes and she said in a soft tune.

"Why are you always smiling? It should hurt a ton, right? Why do you always have to go hurting yourself like that just for me?'"

Lucius didn't reply to any of her questions, he only put a smile on his face through the pain. Then, Mary sighed and continued with a smile.

"You idiot."

She hugged Lucius tightly around his neck. He was shocked for a second, then he hugged Mary back, smiling gently.

After a while, Mary felt embarrassed about her actions. She petted Lucius back and said, awkwardly.

"Umm...Can you let go now?"

Lucius flinched and quickly let go of Mary. He rubbed the back of his neck while looking away from Mary. Mary chuckled at his reaction and placed a hand on his chest and pushed.

Lucius stared at her, confused. He tilted his head and Mary blushed. She drew back her hand and looked away from him and to his brother, who was laying on the ground.

"Lay down and get some rest. I have other matters to deal with." Mary said while standing up.

She walked toward the man and knelt down next to him. His chest was raising up and down, he was still alive but was unconscious. Mary looked at him, breathing weakly for a while. Then, she turned left and right to find the pen.

She saw a familiar shiny object, not far away from her. She stood up and walked toward it. She picked the pen up and walked back to the man.

Then, she sat on top of the man's stomach, holding her pen high up with both hands. Suddenly, she remembered Lucius was there. She put her pen down and turned to Lucius while smiling gently and said.

"Close your eyes and rest up."

Mary waited for him to lie down and close his eyes. After he shut his eyes, Mary's smile vanished and she continued to lift her pen high up and stabbed it into the man's throat with all her might.

Then, she ripped it out of his throat and stabbed his throat again and again.

"How dare you hurt your brother like that!" She mumbled. "Your attitude towards your little brother disgusts me. You monsters deserve to die."

She continued to stab him non-stop. Soon, Mary's clothes and hands were drenched with blood. Some of the blood hit her cheek too as she continued to stab.

Then, she stopped. Her hands were tired from all the stabbing. She let go of the bloody pen that she used as a weapon. She breathed heavily and wiped the blood off of her face with the back of her hand.

Then, she turned to Lucius. When she saw him, her eyes widened, he was already sitting up. Tears were rolling down his face. His eyes widened with shock, disbelief and sadness, it was a painful expression to watch.
