Suspicious

Mary went back to the corner, where the black shirt was at. She sat down in the corner and began to do her work. Lucius continued eating his meal while staring at Mary. But this time he didn't approach her, he was curious about her suspicious action yet, he was afraid that Mary would still be mad at him.

He sat there, silently while eating his food, his eye never left her. When he was done eating, he slowly and quietly crawled toward Mary, who was still sitting in the corner. When he was just a step away from Mary, Mary stretched her hand unexpectedly causing Lucius to flinch. He thought he was caught until Mary yelled.

"Finally, Done! Oh!... Lucius, what are you doing here?"She asked while her hands seemed to be holding something, but soon she shoved it inside her pocket.

Lucius looked at her hands and switched his gaze to her pocket, staring suspiciously. But soon he was interrupted by Mary's voice.

"Lucius, have you finished eating?"

He nodded.

"That's good to hear."Mary said while smiling at him, gently.

He smiled back at her, he forgot about the unknown item, that Mary shoved in her pocket. He only felt relief, knowing that Mary wasn't mad at him anymore.

"Since we have nothing to worry about now, I will be leaving now."Mary said with a hurried yet monotone voice.

Lucius looked at her, his eye widened. He hastily crawled toward Mary and hugged her leg.

"Lucius!"She yelled, shocked by his sudden embrace. "What are you doing?"

He gazed at her with a pitiful look and hissed at her, sadly. Mary was confused about his reaction.

Does he not want me to go out because he thinks I will be eaten? Mary thought. But...I am still alive even after going around by myself multiple times. I did meet some troubles along the way sometimes but still, why can't he just relax about that? I can protect myself. He really is damn overprotective.

"Lucius...Please let go...I need to do something."Mary begged with guilt as Lucius stared at her with his pitiful, adorable round kitty eye. His ears and tail were down and when he heard Mary say those words, he clung onto her tighter.

As he applied pressure, Mary felt her leg was about to break into two if he continued to add up his strength.

"Lucius!Time out! My leg hurts, please let go."

Lucius immediately withdrew his hands and sat there, looking at the floor. He dared not look at her, he was upset with himself for hurting her. He looked extremely pitiful when he did that.

Mary sighed, not knowing what to do. She sat on the floor, rubbing her leg while staring at Lucius. She could see him, peeked at her then, quickly looked away and he would do it again and again as if he was put on repeat.

Seeing his scared and nervous face, Mary sighed again. Lucius flinched and looked at her.

"Lucius, what are you doing sitting so far away? You didn't hurt me that much. Don't be so scared my body isn't that fragile."Mary said with a gentle smile.

Lucius looked at her, still scared that he might hurt her.

"Lucius, do you not want to hug me before I leave?"

Lucius's eye turned sharp, frightened by her sudden goodbye. He quickly crawled toward her and hugged her, tightly in his arms.

Mary chuckled, slightly."Lucius, you can let go now...Lucius?"

Instead of letting her go, Lucius hugged her tightly as if he was trying to break her in half. She didn't mind at first until his grip became a little suffocating. She patted Lucius's back.

"Lucius, let go...I can't breathe."She said while her voice sounded as if she was about to run out of air.

Lucius instantly withdrew his hand and sat far away from her again. Mary gasped for air and when her breathing was back to normal. She saw Lucius back to his scared and upset self. She sighed again and stood up.

She walked to the door and opened it. She turned to look at Lucius and saw he wasn't moving from his spot. He was scared, he would hurt her again. But it pains Mary when he sat there with his upset eye, looking at her as she slowly closed the door.

Mary walked up the stairs while feeling guilty as she had to leave him like that. When she reached the top, she walked into the bedroom and took out a needle and thread from one of the drawers.

She soon walked around the room to find something. She saw a jewelry box, where there was a golden necklace inside. She took the shiny gold necklace and glace at it for a few seconds before throwing it away.

She then put a piece of ripped cloth inside and left. She walked out of the room and down the stairs. She stood in front of the door, where Lucius and she were staying temporarily.

She pushed open the door and something forcefully lunged at her. She fell backward onto the floor.

"Ouch!"She yelled, she looked down at the mysterious creature, it was Lucius(She already expected it was him)."Lucius?"

Lucius looked at her as she called, his eye was teary.

"Lucius, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

He pointed to the floor and there was a message. It wrote:I'm sorry for hurting you. Please don't leave me.

Mary stared at the message and to Lucius, stunned.

"Did you think I left you?"

Lucius nodded while wiping away his tears. Mary clasped her hands onto his face and stared at him right in the eye.

"Lucius, you dumb idiot. You know I'm not going to leave you."

Lucius hissed, softly.

"Did you think I left you because you hurt me?"

He nodded.

"You idiot. I already said it doesn't hurt. Now come on let's get inside."

Mary removed her hands from Lucius's face. Lucius crawled into the room while Mary followed him from behind.

When Lucius fully went inside, Mary shut the door behind her and sat on the floor. She pulled out the box while Lucius stared at her hand, tilting his head.

He hissed at her and Mary flinched, looking up at him. He pointed to the box.

"It's a secret."Mary said, suspiciously while smiling.

Lucius pouted his cheek and gave a grumpy hiss which made Mary chuckle.

"You will know it very soon."

He tilted his head and craved on the floor. Surprise? He wrote.

Mary didn't reply to him and only smiled at him. Lucius looked at Mary, his head full of question marks but Mary ignored him. She turned her body, facing the opposite side of him. Mary's back was facing him while he sat there, silently, thinking about the 'surprise' Mary said.
