Lucius was twisting and turning in his sleep while his whole body was covered in cold sweats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucius saw Mary kneeling on the ground, hugging her brother in her arms while crying tears of joy on his back. Her brother didn't face her even when hearing her cry as if he couldn't hear her. He wasn't crying nor smiling as if he didn't have any emotion.
While Mary continued to cry on his back, Lucius saw his brother's appearance begin to change. His arms started to grow feathers while his soulless facial expression changed into a starving look. Salivas were drooling out of his mouth like a hungry wolf.
Lucius remembered that expression, the expression when his brother was out of control when he first turned into an experiment. Lucius panicked, he hastily rushed toward Mary but was stopped by something in front of him like an invisible wall.
He pressed his hands against it and hissed at Mary. Mary didn't hear it, she was still holding tightly onto her brother. Suddenly, her brother slowly turned around to face Mary. Lucius felt a sense of panic inside of him, he raised his hand, which was clenched into a fist. As he was about to hit it, something stopped him.
He glanced back and saw a chain on his wrist. He glanced back to see Mary and saw his brother was now staring at her with that starving look. He quickly raised another hand into a fist. As he was about to hit it, another chain held him back. Unexpectedly, more chains came from behind him, one was grabbing him by the neck, while the other two were on his tail and abdomen.
He looked around his body, confused and frightened. He grabbed hold of the chain with his hands, trying to break it but he was pulled back by a powerful force. He was being dragged further and further away from Mary. He dragged his nails on the ground but it didn't stop nor slow it down.
Suddenly, it stopped. He glanced up, wanting to know how far he was from Mary and saw his brother standing in front of him. He froze in his spot, he didn't know what was going on, why was his dead brother here?
His brother stood there, staring at him. Soon, his neck began to split in half. Blood poured out from his neck and eyes and landed on the ground. The ground began to cover in his blood while Lucius lay there, frightened. He didn't know what to do, his hands and shirt were soaked with his blood.
Then, he heard a bang in front of him, behind his brother. He quickly tilted his head to the side and saw something he never wanted to see. His eyes widened while fresh tears were rolling down his face. Mary, who was still hugging his brother a while ago, lay on the ground motionlessly. While he saw a man with a white lab cloak, standing there, holding a gun in his hand.
Lucius hissed, aggressively, reaching out his hand to crawl but was soon pulled back by an immense force.
He woke up, his whole body was covered in cold sweats, some even dripped on the floor. He reached his hand to touch his face as he felt tears continue to roll down his face. Then, he remembered the nightmare. He pushed himself up while glancing left and right and saw Mary sleeping on the floor, soundly.
He immediately slithered toward her and placed his head on her chest, listening for any heartbeat. His mind was put at ease when he heard Mary's heart thumping.
But that wasn't able to make him forget about his nightmare, he pushed himself away from Mary. Then, looked at Mary's face and placed his forehead on hers while tears kept dripping out of his eye, uncontrollably.
Mary felt an unknown liquid hit her cheek as sobbing sounds could be heard and suddenly something warm landed on her forehead. She opened her eyes and saw Lucius's crying face just a few inches away from her while a couple of tears landed on her face.
Mary quickly grabbed Lucius by the arms and pushed him back. Lucius didn't resist and was easily pushed by Mary. She sat up, her hands were still on Lucius's arms.
"Lucius! What's wrong? Why are you crying?"Mary asked, panicking.
Lucius continued to sob while Mary nervously stared at him with both uneasiness and confusion. He then reached out his hands and hugged her in his arms. Mary sat there, her face squeezed into his abdomen as thousands of questions wafted through her mind.
Suddenly, there were scratching sounds coming from behind her which threw her out of her thinking state. Then, Lucius unexpectedly pushed her away from him. She looked back and saw some words written on the floor.
Stay with me. Don't leave this place.
It was neatly written, it was definitely Lucius's handwriting. But she was uncertain about the message.
"Lucius...Did you write this?"Mary asked him, hesitantly.
Lucius rubbed his tears away while nodding.
"But...didn't we promise to get out of this place together?"
He stroked a line under the 'Don't leave'.
"Lucius! You know that I have a brother to save! You promise to help me! Are you going back on your words-"
Lucius hit the floor and hissed, aggressively at her. Mary flinched her whole body was shaking in fear. When he noticed what he did, his face immediately switched to a frightened and apologetic expression, like a kid who was caught by his mother doing bad deeds.
He slowly reached out his hand to Mary while he hissed under his breath, apologetically but she slapped his hand away.
"Don't touch me! You liar!" Mary yelled while Lucius flinched, shocked."...I'm leaving!"
Mary turned around while Lucius hastily stretched out his hand to grab her. He dashed toward her and hissed, desperately. But suddenly a knife was pointed at his chest, Mary was pointing it at him and stared soullessly at him.
"I'm not afraid to use it...Don't follow me! I don't need your help anymore.Goodbye."
She said as she opened the door and disappeared behind it.
