CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

"I don't want to do this! stop pushing me!" Meela shoves Baltus Hafez away from her. "If you are so clever you do then. Go ON!"

He snarled. "If you want Imhotep you do as I say! Tell him". She breathed heavily, storming out from her compartment searching for Imhotep.

She found him standing staring at the view while the train was moving. Gently she approached.

"Now I shall go to Ahm Shere and kill the Scorpion King". he said in ancient Egypt.

He turns to Meela, who is looking sexy as hell. That doesn't mean he likes her as his heart belongs to Evelyn.

"And we shall rule the world together. Me and my love".

Meela stops her track. She felt angry as Imhotep said that. Mentioning her name was the biggest mistake.

She stops him with a glance, then looks at imhotep and steals herself. "We do not have the Scepter of Osiris my lord". she replied in ancient egypt.

Imhotep looks at her, and then just smiles. "I do not need the Scepter of Osiris". His face hardens in anger and he gives her a bitter smile. "When they cursed me, they made me stronger than their gods!"

"My lord if I ask?" he studied her. "Why can't you love me".

"I'll show you".

Imhotep outstretched his arm to hers, she took it. Their backgrounds start to change, they are now face to face in Pharaoh's palace.

Meela looked surprised to be there. He spoke. "This is where I lived".

"Beautiful". she said.

At that moment, Princess Nefertiri came out of nowhere. Imhotep smiles, he points where she is. "You see that princess?" he asks, Meela nods. "She is the pharaoh's daughter Princess Nefertiri, the love of my life".

Then suddenly Meela shoves her hand away from Imhotep in anger, she looks up at him.

"She's the one who you love the most, my lord? So did the boy's mother, does she look like hers?" Imhotep nods. "She's dead like over centuries ago".

"So did I am". said Imhotep.

She bite her lips. "I wish that princess is me so that you can love me".

"But I cannot love you Meela. Don't you ever force yourself to me".

Later that moment. Meela stomps her feet on the floor while she walks straight to the Dakota compartment. She was so angry at Imhotep, this boy is the place she wants to release her anger.

"What do you want?"

"Such a bright little child. Did you know that we have The Book of the Dead?" Dakota shakes his head. "So you know what I can do with that book on you?"

She licks her fingers and straightens his hair, very motherly. He shoved her away.

"Your mother must be missing you terribly. If you wish to see her again, you best behave".

"Lady, I don't behave for my mum, what makes you think I'm gonna do it for you?"

"Because she wouldn't slip poisonous snakes into your bed while you were sleeping. If I were her I would". She smiles, then walks.

Jonathan and Ardeth are sitting alongside the cabin. Jonathan's arm is reaching into a porthole, scrounging around inside for something.

Ardeth is lovingly petting Horus. "Do not fear, my friends. They will not hurt him".

"How many times you want to say the same thing". ask Jonathan.

"I'm comforting your sister, my friends. They can not hurt him. For he wears the bracelet of Anubis. When they reach Karnac, the bracelet will show him the next step on the journey, and continue to do so until they reach Ahm Shere. It is written that the oasis of Ahm Shere is where Man began, and where his demise will originate".

"Yes, yes, sounds terrible, now about that gold pyramid?"

Ardeth looks at him. "It is written that since the time of the Scorpion King, no man who has ever laid eyes upon it, has ever returned to tell the tale". Jonathan looks nervous.

"Where is all this stuff written?" Then he pulls the Scepter out through the porthole. "There! Got it. Pretty nice eh?"

"Yes, and it must be very important, if I were you, I would keep it close".

Jonathan proudly puffs up his chest. "The gods couldn't take it away". Piper walks past and snatches it out of Jonathan's hand.

"That's mine, skinny boy, keep ya hands off!" Jonathan looks crestfallen. Ardeth just laughs.

Back to the compartment train. Imhotep sees Dakota already asleep on his small bed, he then takes a seat facing his son.

Imhotep just smiled and studied Dakota's face, so beautiful like his mother, strong like his. How he missed seeing Dakota when he was a baby. He hadn't got a chance to see his first walk, his first word.. everything he should be there for him.

Not kind like this.

"Imhotep" his eyes shoot up at Dakota as he calls. "How come you died?"

"I died twice which you wanted to hear".

"Both".

Imhotep smiled again. "The pharoah accused me for raping the maid even it wasn't me".

"Hom Dai cursed because of that?" Imhotep nod yes. "Second one is my mum.."

"Yes. I will not give up and I don't want to die for the third time. I just want to live like people do. With you and your mum, others. It just seems unfair to me because this world wasn't built for me, my world is the past three thousand years back where the pharaoh lived".

Gently Dakota reaches Imhotep's hand, he smiles. "I want you to stay. I will force you to stay". Imhotep kissed his hand, he wanted to stay dearly. "But that woman creeped me out. Meela. How many times has she ever threatened me while you are not beside me".

"I will not forgive her. No one will touch or harm my son. She'll get what she deserves for threatening my son".

Later. Dakota was fully asleep, Imhotep went to see Baltus Hafez. Knocking his door, Baltus Hafez rubs his eyes, glancing at the clock.

It was midnight now, who could be knocking at the door at this time. There's lots of things to do when they reach Karnac and now this.

Hurrying his feet knowing it was Imhotep behind that door, he slid the door open and Imhotep on his view. "My lord? what it is". he asked. "What happened?"

"There nothing will happen just- I want her out of this journey to Ahm Shere".

"Why my lord?"

"Because I don't need her anymore that is why. Her service is no longer needed in this journey, at Karnac she won't be needed. Ask her to prepare herself".

Imhotep turned his feet back to his compartment. Baltus Hafez hurried his feet to Meela compartment, he knocked it.

"What have you've done!"

"I've done nothing".

"You did. What did you do? Imhotep wants you out of this journey. Something you do and why if I ask!"

Meela's face turns to anger. "He doesn't want me on this journey? that boy!".

"What have you done!?" Meela shut the door right in front of his face without answer. "Woman".

Meela leaned at the door and heard Baltus Hafez footsteps walking through the train corridor. She breathed heavily as she was thinking Dakota is the reason she left this adventure, that boy must have told Imhotep what she had done.

Yes. She threatened the boy and yes she wanted Imhotep. First thing, how to get rid of the boy and his bitch mother.

Imhotep was half asleep when someone knocked at the door. He glanced over where Dakota was sleeping, afraid he was waking him up as he made a move toward the door.

Gently he slid it open and it was Meela. "It's night. What do you want? haven't the high priest told you yet". he spoke.

"He did my lord. I'm sorry if my behavior toward your son was wrong and miserable. I don't mean no harm to him just.. I will try to make a friend".

Imhotep knew she was lying. "By threatening him?"

"I wasn't. It was a joke my lord. Perhaps he was just a boy who couldn't compare whether it was a joke or not".

"He's a genius like his mother. Of course he knows which part is a joke and which part is the threats. So are you here to apologize and want to continue your journey with us to Ahm Shere". she nodded. "Then shall I give you another chance?"

Meela begged him. "You are. But you can't do anything. Don't do anything weird inside this train or else you received what you shouldn't receive".

"I promise".

She enters and begins circling around him. Her seducing voice though Imhotep will fall for her but no he wasn't.

"Isn't it very complicated and tough having a son who is taught by his mother? Strong, brave like his father, brilliant like his mother".

Her lips leaned closer to Imhotep ears. "Perfect family. A perfect family I desire for in my life, husband and child is my weakness".

Imhotep looked at her. "What is your point? If you tried to seduce me like this I think you got the wrong thoughts. I wouldn't fall for it. My heart still belongs to this boy's mother and it never changes". she stops circling around him, she attempts to kiss him on the lips. Imhotep pushed her.

"Why can you just love me, my lord? Am I not beautiful in your eyes".

Imhotep's eyes locked on her. He wanted to kill her if he wanted, take her soul then send to the underworld where humans like Meela and him belong.

He already promises himself that he must stay alive, killing is for necessary. This Meela is beyond his limit.

"I give you another chance, take it or leave it. Since I saw you I never ever fall for you even though you're the one who found me buried beneath the temple in Hamunaptra. Doesn't mean I have to fall for you or be yours".

With polite Imhotep giving Meela a smile, he led her to the door. "You need to rest and think about what you did earlier".

He slid the door shut. Meela stands for nothing. This is not the end for her, she will get Imhotep by killing Evelyn's and the boy if she wants the man in her life.

She will send Evelyn and the boy's soul into the underworld by herself if she must.

Revenge is sweet.

For a moment she stands, Meela then walks back to her compartment waiting for the next day.
