Reminiscing The Mother She Had

Duncan looked at the woman walking ahead of him. He could see the way her shoulders sagged against the invisible weight on her shoulders. Even though Julie had sworn not to be affected by what happened tonight, a part of her would still mourn how she was treated by her mother.

The kids wanted to sleep with their aunt. Fujin was suddenly called back to Japan, and Colin wanted to explore. It was only the two of them at home. And the pups. They started barking when they stepped in the main door.

Julie had left her wedge by the door and was walking to the shed where the pups were kept while they were away. It was Plum who greeted her first. She ran around her feet like a loon. Julie's laugh echoed in the empty house. Hearing the delight in her voice made him smile.
