Construction Department

Kuri is shocked that she has her own office. The City Lord's Castle is really spacious with no one inside, not even a single maid can be found. Thus, she is tasked by Arthur to do a few things. One is to post a recruitment announcement once more for the construction department and that the pay will be 10 silver coins per month for ordinary workers.

She writes the details of the announcement as well as the time of the interview. Arthur asks her to do the interview herself and just give him the details afterwards.

Kuri is confident that she will be able to fulfill this job and she doesn't want to disappoint the pay that Arthur gives her since her pay can already feed ten families.

Soon, the interview has arrived and they are shocked that the City's Secretary is a young woman. Many people don't take her seriously but this has little effect to Kuri's performance and she has noted down the responses of these men.

However, a middle-aged man named Andrew has caught her attention. He is a former mason of a famous construction company in the Asure Kingdom, a kingdom near the Camelot City.

After writing down every detail of the interview, Kuri walks toward the City Lord's office. She sees that Arthur seems to be laying down some plans for the Construction Department.

"You are here." Arthur greets her with a smile. "Take a seat."

The arrangement of the office is a little different than common offices. In fact, Arthur has read this type of structure that is used by CEOs of future companies. There is a long rectangular table on the middle with sofas on the two long sides and one single-seat sofa.

This setup makes it easier to discuss things that includes a lot of papers. Arthur's eyes fall to Kuri as he looks at the paper in his hand. "Who do you think is suitable for being the Head of the Construction Department?"

Kuri replies honestly. "A man named Andrew. This is the details of the interview with him."

Arthur reads the paper that is handed to him. It makes him interested with Andrew but there is a bit of trouble here. Why is Andrew not looking for a job in his country? Why did he turn to be a former mason for a famous company?

"Are there anymore candidates?" Arthur asks as he still needs more candidates as backups. Kuri gives him two more papers.

Arthur nods as it looks like Kuri is doing her job really well. She has written down the important details of the interviews and as well as the behavior of the interviewees.

The two proceed to fill up the Construction Department's necessary positions. Arthur has already signed the approval for the creation of the department. There is one thing more to assure before releasing the results of the interview. Arthur needs to check their background through an information broker.

After telling Kuri to continue on her tasks, Arthur moves toward the William's tavern but he hears that this is secretly a place where you can gather information for a price.

Arthur enters the tavern and he sees that it is full of burly men drinking beer in the middle of the day. He walks toward the barista of the tavern and then he secretly shows a gold coin to the barista while mouth talking. 'I want information.'

The barista understands what Arthur needs and he lets him enter the 'VIP' Room. In reality, this room is for meeting with the owner of the tavern, William, who is secretly a retired high level spy.

Seeing William, Arthur rushes to the point and gives them three papers containing pictures of the three candidates for the Construction Department. "I will not beat around the bush. I will pay two gold coins for information about this three. You just have to tell me their circumstances as I don't want to work with someone that I do not know."

William bows his head. "As you wish, my lord."

Arthur smiles as it seems that he knows he is the City Lord. "Not bad."

Arthur returns to the Castle and then finishes up some of the work he needs to do to finally establish the Construction Department.

There is only one thing left to do. The manufacturing of bricks and cement is really difficult to do as it needs high temperature. There are two options. To create machinery like that or to hire a high ranking magician.

Arthur heaves a sigh as these two choices are beyond his reach for now. Suddenly, the librarian's voice rings inside his head. "You can use the shop to buy a factory for cement and bricks."

"There is such a thing?" The system never fails to shock Arthur with its capabilities.

"Can I use gold to buy this factory?" Arthur asks the system.

The system clarifies and explains the function of the shop. "No. The currency used by the system is called mission points, which you can get by finishing missions. You currently have two mission points. A factory for cement and bricks is worth 1 mission point."

"I see! Can I buy it now?" Arthur is excited as this is one of the biggest hurdles in his construction of the Construction Department. Without cement and bricks, he can only use the current materials which are of low quality compared to what the future uses.

The system is satisfied with Arthur's excitement as it explains more. "You can but I suggest that you buy it outside the city. Factory noises are really loud and it can annoy your people. In fact, I know you have outlined where in the city you will place different functions such as manufacturing, work force and departments, and even housing."

Arthur agrees as he has indeed taken note of the city's structure and there is a lot of improvement that can be made. He has already planned the outline of the city and even the improvement of the roads after he builds the wall.

The system is indeed all knowing.
