Chapter 10

A carriage drawn by eight horses traversed through the capital city of Eteare. There was an urban district to the west and a residential area for commoners to the east, with Louver deep in the center.

Lia looked startled, unable to take her eyes off the scenery outside the window.

A year ago, Lia had toured Corsor, the land under the marquis's jurisdiction. She was shocked by the sight of the well-maintained roads, immaculate buildings, and all the commoners who were dressed like aristocrats. It was remarkably different from the capital she remembered, for Louver was filled with criminals and the poor.

Lia and the marquis made their way into the central part of the capital where she was greeted by grand museums and vibrant shops. Lia put her hands together in awe when she saw a group of ladies sitting under a canopy as if they had emerged from a grand painting.

"Is this really the capital…?"

The marquis chuckled at Lia who seemed mesmerized.
