Chapter 110

Lia paced back and forth, frustrated at the lack of progress. The search for survivors was stalled by the rain, which showed no signs of letting up. Every time she tried to jump into the search, exasperated, Ian latched onto her arm. She swallowed so many curses that she didn't think she needed to eat.

"You should've just left me at your house, all tied up," Lia sneered.

Ian's jaw clenched, his eyes never leaving the rescue workers. "Believe me, I wanted to. And I would have, if you hadn't tried to jump out the window."

"People don't die that easily, Ian. I also know how to climb trees."

"I can't stand seeing even the tiniest scratch on your body."

It was a never-ending cycle. She took her anger out on him, and he rendered her speechless with his obstinacy. Lia bit down on her tongue to keep the tears at bay.
