The Battle of the Blockade (1/3)

[DAY 16]

While the others decide to go upstairs and make preperations to leave, Neo decided to take a closer look at the weapons he looted from the eleven cultists which he killed a few hours ago.

'Hmpm these cultists are definitely well equipped. Where did they get the military equipments and guns from?' Neo thought to himself as he examined the various weapons and ammunition types spread out on the table.

When the others saw the weapons in the duffle bag and Neo presented his proposal to attack the blockade of the cultists directly, they were all scared. However, Neo was able to calm the situation by describing his exact procedure of the attack to them.

He would advance alone under the cover of darkness and scout the cultists blockade. After that he would try to kill the guards protecting their sleeping comrades one by one. The sleeping cultists will be easy to kill afterwards. If all goes well, Neo would reunite with the othes and take the cultists' vehicles and make there way to the survivor camp. If problems occurt Meram, Ninette, Donatien and Elly would take action and help Neo completing his mission. However, Neo is certain that he will be able to kill every cultist undetected. And even if things get chaotic he still has his armor and sword that would be more than enough to save his live.

What interested Neo most was why the cultist build a blockade at the beginnig? He speculates that the cultist are probably planing a flank attack on the camp. This speculation got even more reasonable, after Meram has detailed the positions of the different sides in the district to Neo. Three giant Warehouse full of rice are between the two sides, they are both in dire need of supplies and cannot afford the other side to get it. Therefore the cultists seem to want to strike first trying to flank the survivors and minimize their own casualties.

'What an interesting and risking plan the cult has, however I can not let you go and just destroy that place for now as I still need to check on somethings there. Well what happens afterwards isn't my problem.' Neo thought with a cold look.

They probably planned this surprise attack well in advance and if Neo doesn't hurry, the camp could be stormed by the cultists before he even gets there. Then even Neo can no longer help the survivors, even if he wanted to. However, he doesn't. He is not a hero who saves everyone in distress, the 9 people he saved have to pay for that in the future and Neo will make sure to get everything he can.

Afterwards if he doesn't find his mother there he will head north as soon as possible. If she isn't there than that proply means she died in the city somewhere ...

Taking revange on Androld is also a task he has set upon himself and he will make sure to pay his debt, two times.

'I won't mind eating that asshole when I finally meet him,' Neo thought as he briefly opened his other back, which was full of brain and organs, and smiled slightly. After that, he quickly closed it and put the bag down.

If you wonder how Neo was able to create a plan to attack the blockade and suspect that the sect will advance toward the camp first. Than the answer is, that Neo was trained by the military as a soldier for two years.

There he learned how to use, maintain and sometimes even improve a wide variety of weapons. The improvised silencer he made for the pistol he used in the fight against the Stage 2 is a good example of this.

Furthermore, in the two years with the military, Neo has also learned a lot about various ground combat tactics and about commanding small troops in enemy territory. He has also gained some experience in a total of three missions, taking him to two battlefields on Earth. So of course he could set up such a simple plan to assassinate the cultists while they are asleep. He has also considered an infiltration plan, but in order to carry out such an operation he woud need information on how the cultists identify themselves which he currently lacks and he has no time to collect the data because the cultist could already attack the camp at that time. Therefore, it is now important to act swiftly.

We should also talk about those military operations that Neo participated in when he was still in the military.

The Earth of the future, has long since ceased to be divided into small nations as it used to be. Instead, there is only one government that rules the entire star-system, up to a certain point. They can shape the government itself, regulate their internal economy and so on.

For example, the Sol system is under the direct jurisdiction of the *Parliament of Sol* which is a democratic parliament where earth, moon, mars and the spacestation around Uranus can vote their parties inside every 10 years.

However, for several decades, there have been repeated rises of self-proclaimed *Separatists on Earth*, who mainly come from the northern celestial sphere. They believe that the government is corrupt and only benefits the few but the lot live in misery for it in return.

They fight for earth to be independent of the government. Turning it to its former glory it lost after the stellar expansion.

The military has been fighting these Separatists in various areas of the world, mostly the north where they seem to have a lot of acceptance by the people. The fights are going on for several years but until now there has been no side taking the advantage, yet. Despite the government having command over more troops and better equipment, they could not eradicate the Separatists until now.

This is mainly due to the fact that the military is heavily split apart. For example, one of the four admirals of the *Earth Defense Force* changed sides just two days before the apocalypse happened and joined the Seperatists with his fleet of four battle cruisers.

'Well, the war between the two factions should probably be put on hold for the time being. Of course, assuming there was anything left of the two at all.' Neo thought with a smile when he saw the group coming down from above. The children carried some of the supplies on their backs, while the adults carry their weapons and also some supplies.

"Well, it took you all a long time to come finally down, hasen't it? Anyways these are all the weapons I can offer you, choose something for yourself, but split up the ammunition and I have made a silencer that you put on top of the weapon muzzle. The silencers will make sure that when you shoot, not all of the undead inside the city will be after us. I think that should increase your survivability drastically" Neo said with a smile as he grabbed a gun of his own.

The rifle is similar to a German HK G36 and it also takes around 400 rounds for itself. He takes a weapon for himself because he doesn't want to reveal his armor, sword and skills to others.

They are his aces that he would only use in a pinch for now. However, that also creates a chance for him to practice his telekinesis ability in actual battle, if he could increase his controls over atoms he could propably lift heavier things in the futur. Imagine lifting 100 enemies in the air around him and then killing them all with one thought, or forcing a spaceship onto the ground with it... ahh, the possibilities are just endless, aren't they?

His mental ability will increase as he gains experience and control over it and eats more virus DNA which he gets from other undead. However, he needs a stage 2's DNA as anything else doesn't seem to help him much as he consumed a crystal of a stage 1 while the others were still up and Emily said the DNA concentration was too low so the effects were to meager. So he has to wait until he meets another level 2 or higher.

But he can not really imagine how strong a Stage 3 would be. If a Stage 2 is already a nightmare to fight against.

While Neo thought to himself, everyone got themselve ready equipped. Ninette took the sniper rifle. Meram decided to take two pistols for himself and use them close range. Donatien on the other hand choose a heavy machine gun and Elly choose a the same rifle as me. The children each got a knive an the pregnant woman was given the last pistol. Strangly, Elly asked me for a small axe that seems to be a unique weapon as it has a dedication ... well I don't even remember taking that thing with me, but I see no need to reject her.

After we talked about where we would leave the kids and the pregnant woman we decided to move out under the cover of night.

Neo had his sword on his back while he held his new weapon firmly in both hands and wore some magazines around his belt.

Everyone understood why they need to set off in the dark and are ready to fight the undead. The scary night and the constant threat of being attacked from everywhere was distressing, especially for the children, but no one made a sound. The children and the pregnant woman know that they are not needed in the group and were a burden. Therefore they dared not to scream or cry to be an even worse burden. They feared that if the undead attacked at night, they would be the first to abandoned and die.

However things turned out differently. There were no undead attacking them at all. If they woundn't hear the undead growling and walking which made noise, they'd assume it was before the apocalypse.

Suddenly, Neo decided to go into a small building on the left side of the group, alone. He would kill the undead their and they should only follow him until the entry, afterward they should follow after him to the 2nd floor.

They didn't question Neo's command as they were already satisfied with the weapons he gave them. They gave the group confidence that they could survive, and they began to trust Neo even more thanks to that.

Neo, now alone on the 2nd floor of the building, saw an apartment that appeared to be open and he decided to open it. There was nobody in the room. Neo scanned the whole apartment and then decided to quickly eat the organs he had in the other backpack and after that he threw the backpack away and decided to call the others.

After sometime Neo, Meram, Ninette, Elly and Donatien left the small building after barricading the windows and door of the apartment with wood from some chairs, the children and the pregnant woman had enough food for sometime and should be fine on their own.

And even if not, Neo doesn't really care that much about them, he even throught about to just abandon them but decided against it as he himself knew how it feels to be abandon and he wouldn't just betray some children and a pregnant woman. That would be to low even for him.

After one hour they arrived near a big building which they decided to hide behind. They were finally there and could see the blockade. It was currently still night and it should take up to 3 hours until the sun rises again. They will not get a secound chance and need to act soon.

Neo could see about three buses which were lined up on a street near a bridge which goes over a small but deep river, with the bus entrances on the side facing the bridge. You could see people on top of the buses holding rifles and shoots could be heard which seemed to target the undead. There were two tall buildings on either side of the bridge that also housed a few cultists who stuck their heads out of the windows from time to time. Neo could perceive a lot of people in these buildings.

Neo also recognized that not all cultist were black robes like the others he meet till now. However they were still wearing the white mask with the bloody hands upon them which seem to shape a circle . But some had a different mask on them, they waren't white but black.

'Propably different ranks?' Neo thought.

Well he will now it soon enough as he would love to make a hostage and interrogat him.

Overall, he really underastemated the defence quiet a bit, as there are a lot of cultist here. If Neo had to guess he would say, here should be 700 cultist patrouling alone at night. So the number of sleeping should be even higher. Maybe they even split their hole army in two which would be kind of dumb, but he needs to be coutious nonetheless.

Should Neo proceed with his plan or should he reevaluate the situation and go with different attempt?
