"You look beautiful, Rissa," Natalie told her with a teary smile.
Nyrissa tried to smile back, but it looked like it came out as more of a grimace. "Thank you, sis."
She hated that she couldn't just be as excited as Natalie about her wedding day, and Nyrissa just hoped she wasn't bringing Natalie's enthusiasm down.
Her hands shook as she unnecessarily smoothed down the front of the cream-colored silk wedding dress. Her stomach was in so many knots she was sure it would never come untied. In thirty minutes or so, she would be walking down the aisle, or rather be joining Ryan and Quentin at the front of the reception hall.
"I wish Mom and Dad were here," Natalie said wistfully.
Nyrissa caught Natalie's gaze in the mirror, and tears gathered in both of their eyes as they shared a moment of sadness.
