The front door opened softly that afternoon, and the girl that entered was a lot more subdued than the one that had left that morning.
Nyrissa came hurrying out of the kitchen with an Italian soda that Quentin had helped her. They were all excited to hear about her first day, but Nyrissa hadn't wanted them to bombard her.
"Nat!" Nyrissa called when her sister started to walk by her like she wasn't there.
Natalie skid to a stop but didn't look up. "Yeah?"
Nyrissa's wide smile slowly melted away as she took in her sister's new demeanor.
"What's going on?" Nyrissa asked, concerned.
"Nothing," Natalie mumbled. "I'm fine. I'm going to go to my room."
Natalie turned on her heel and practically raced to her room. Nyrissa watched her go, stunned and confused by her attitude. It wasn't often that Natalie refused to speak to her about some things. That was usually Nyrissa's department. But it seemed her sister was picking up on that particular trait.
