Quentin almost resembled an avenging angel when he burst through the door. Nyrissa gave him a weak smile, trying to calm him down. She loved this man dearly and watching him burst into the room like he was about to save her from the big, bad paramedics warmed her heart.
"I'm fine, Q," Nyrissa reassured him.
Quentin skirted around all the paramedics to take Nyrissa into his arms. He buried his face in her hair and breathed in her scent.
"You scared us, sugar," Quentin whispered to her.
Nyrissa pulled away. "I'm so sorry. I really didn't mean to scare anyone. But I'm fine, really. Have you heard from Mandy? What's happening with Natalie?"
"In a minute," Quentin said, then turned to Stan, the paramedic. "How is she doing?'
He couldn't help but notice how Stan locked eyes with Nyrissa. A whole conversation happened in a few minutes and did nothing to help Quentin's concerns for Nyrissa.
