Chapter 80: Nyrissa's Secret

A free paramedic rushed to them and helped Quentin lay Natalie down in one of their beds. As they took her information, they began asking her an assortment of questions about what had happened. As well as where each and every mark came from. Natalie’s voice grew quieter until it was next to inaudible as the paramedic’s questions became more intense. Quentin tried not to hover or get overly protective, but when he saw Natalie shrinking back into the cot, he couldn’t help it.

“Is this really f*cking necessary?” Quentin growled at the man.

Unphased, the paramedic looked up at him. “I’m sorry, sir. But I must inform the hospital what we’re dealing with ahead of time so they can have the proper kits ready.”

“He didn’t touch me!” Natalie finally shouted. “He didn’t touch me except to tie me up or hit me. He said—”

Her voice faltered, and Quentin took her hand, squeezing it hard. “Honey, you don’t have to say anything if you’re not ready. Just take your time.”
