Setting Out

The rest of the party closed without incident, and right now, currently, I was in a carriage heading towards the city gates. My mother was sitting in front of me, checking over our gear and on my shoulder was a very disgruntled bug. "Pixal, will you stop being so grumpy?"

"How can I not be!? My race only loves one thing! And that is making honey. Why do I need to go out to some scary place where I will be of no use!?" Pixal was very cranky at this time.

"Pixal, if you want to go back in a pixie sized coffin, I can make that happen as well." My mother was actually quite scary looking right now. She had a sword in her hand, and her eyes were narrowed to the point that I could even feel a bit of killing intent coming off her.

"Hiih! Ooh, how wonderful it is to take a break from my daily task of making honey. Hahahaha!" Pixal was too weak! She always gave in so quickly!

"Alright, Mother, don't scare the bug. She is just a bug after all." I said while poking the bug on my shoulder.

"You gave me a name, and you are still calling me a bug!" Pixel pouted, which made me chuckle.

"Pixal, we need you around because you are able to give us a better warning when a monster is around. We do not want to be overrun as the eastern forest seems to be having a build up of monsters as of late." I explained lightly, but this only served to cause Pixal's face to pale.

"What do you mean…. Do you mean some kind of monster tide build up!? Are you all crazy!? Why would you even go to such a place!?" Pixal yelled out. She flew between my mother and me and pointed at me. "You are so young. Why are you throwing your life away!?" She then turned to my mother and pointed at her as well. "She's your daughter! Why are you tossing her into the pit filled with monsters!?"

"Pixal, relax. For one thing, I am stronger than mother." I started: "Second thing, this is needed. I need more real life training that will put me on the brink between life and death. The enemies I have are much stronger than some monsters you find out in the wild."

"This… This makes no sense!? What kind of enemies would a five year old have!?" Pixal seemed very confused. I understand she was worried for me, but I still had to go.

"Pixal, you only need to stay at my mother's side and warn her if you sense any monsters that might be sneaking up on us. Nothing more, nothing less. You will not be with me when I am fighting." I explained.

"Do you really need to do this!? You are nothing but a human child. Why do you need to grow so quickly…." Pixal seemed to be about to start crying, which caused me to feel bad. I reached out and patted her head.

"I have no choice. My current strength, while it might be enough to deal with humans and some monsters, it is nowhere near the power I need to deal with the monsters that are trying to control my life. I told you before, Pixal, I am not completely human. I am a human, demon, and angel mixed together. And the beings that want to toy with my life are much more powerful than anything I know of in this world." I explained as I looked at Little Bloody in my lap, sleeping. This was what I named my blooddevil. I figured if anything happened, Little Bloody would help me protect my mother if the unexpected happened. Her life was more important than my own at this time.

"I give up!" Pixal yelled before flying over and landing on my mother's shoulder. "I just need to keep an eye on the surroundings, right?"

"Yes, and thank you," I replied.

"We are at the gates. Madam." Our driver called out to us through the curtain.

"I guess this is it," I said as I opened the door to the carriage and hopped out. The city wall gates were tall, and I mean very tall. They look big enough for a dinosaur or dragon to walk through. It could also be that my current height makes them look that much bigger. I really did hate being so short.

"Bella, when we exit the city, we will need to not only watch out for monsters but people as well. I will leave them all to you unless you are about to die. This is your training. I hate it that my little princess has to become more of a bloody princess than a flowery one, but if this is what you need to survive and take control of your life, then I will stand by your side and support you all the way." My mother placed her hand on my head and smiled. "Come. Let's go. We want to reach our destination before dark."

"Mmm!" I nodded as we began walking forward. The city guards looked at us strangely, but they did not stop us. My training was now about to begin. I couldn't wait to see how strong these so called monsters were. But I wonder will my current abilities be enough to kill monsters? They should be much harder to deal with than a human….

I hate to say it, but humans are much more predictable to kill than an animal. Monsters of this world are animals but much more dangerous. They can even use spells and other tactics as they have some intelligence but what makes them harder to kill than humans is their instincts are keener. They can hear things like an arrow whizzing through the air even if it is flying silently just because of the air vibrations it causes. Their sense of smell alone is enough to make them know of your presence and location. So I know this training will not be easy.
