Chapter 23 - The Underworld

" Who was that woman with him ", A man putting on a black suit seated on an Italian antique wooden chair asked looking the gun in his hands. " I...I don't know boss, it seems she is working with him on this case " A lady looking like a gangster said slightly shivering hoping her boss wouldn't blow her brains out with the pistol in his hands, " but why is he looking so calm and collected or maybe this is just the calm before the storm " she thought. The man in black suit smiled and said " So Jason wanted to help her out with the case or should I say protect her, you should make sure to keep an eye on her every move from now henceforth and what about the custom officers ?, I hope my men did well in covering them " The man said still smiling and this only adds to the fear building up in the lady before him. 

The lady got nervous but because of the severe and brutal training she had undergone to become a fierce assassin she could easily keep her emotions in check if not her manic boss will certainly spill her blood this minute so she spoke gently " Boss, we lost them to Jason and your men in question were brutally dealt with, when we checked them, something seems to be wrong with their brains and it affected their speech, I mean they can't talk properly anymore ". The calm expression on the man's face was no where to be found cause he was now fueled with rage and she shouted while saying " What did you just say, how could one man, one fucking son of a gun take down more than a dozen of my well armed men ". The lady gathered her courage and said to the angry man who was now standing " Boss, I know you are fully aware of the fact that this is nothing compared to what that man can do, he isn't the king of the underworld for nothing ". " He has always outwitted me, he took everything from me my mother, my conscience, he has been my rival for far too long. I promise to take his position here in the underworld and eliminate him from the face of this earth, damn you Jason, damn you, I hate your guts ", The man swore and screamed hysterically.  The lady noticed he was losing control so she gave him some pills and she left him once he fell asleep on the couch, as she stepped out of the door a tear fell off her eyes but she swiftly wiped it away. 

In The Alfredo's Ancestral Mansion 

Carie was all dressed up ready to leave the mansion after she spoke to her darling Lim on phone, yeah that's what he is to her now . She called her new friends to meet her at a restaurant this evening for dinner but for now she was about to teach someone a lesson, after getting a confirmation message from Alicia and Kelly that they would be there, she made a call and smiled wickedly when she ended that call, she got into her car and her personal driver drove her out of the estate. 

In a Luxurious Restaurant 

 Carie got an intel of where Lim's ex Barbara's whereabout and to her greatest surprise the witch was chilling in one of the biggest restaurant in NYC, Le Bernardin . Once she entered the restaurant showing the guard her VIP card, the guard was kinda shocked because the card is only given to the owner's family and only four was printed so he wondered who she is but he doesn't want to get fired today so he just smiled at her as she entered the restaurant elegantly. She swept the entire place with her eyes until she spotted Barbara eating with her upper-class friends and she walked gracefully to their table " Hello Barbara, it has been three long years already and you haven't changed a bit  "  Carie said sarcastically. Barbara who was putting on a red crop top and a tight mini red skirt sitted on a round table with her friends chatting was so surprised to hear that familiar voice she hated the most but she hid her anger because of her friends sitted around her. She turned around to see the owner of that voice and she knew that it was Carie, her nightmare was standing in front of her, giving her sarcastic smile. " Carie, you are here what a surprise, have a sit with us and tell me when you came back " Barbara said looking all meek and caring. Carie knew this act very well and she hated it so much because this was the strategy Barbara uses to make Lim feel pity for her and this was probably what she did to get her man to fuck her. Thinking about all this Carie said spitefully " Oh stop this useless facade of yours because it's not going to work on me, you aren't my friend so stop acting all nice " Carie said impatiently,  she didn't have the time to chit chat with the person that caused her pain and made her hurt her fiancee deeply. She  picked Barbara up while dragging her her and the latter yelped in pain, everyone present at that section of the restaurant was surprised at what she did, most people recognised her as the young miss of the Alfredo family and they were about to take videos and photos but their phones were snatched by her bodyguards. 

Carie looked at Barbara who looked so pitiful but she didn't feel pity for her like the others, she dragged her to the center of the restaurant and then a resounding slap echoed in the restaurant and everyone looked at Barbara who received the slap from Carie. " That's for been a bitch ", and before the lady on the cold floor could process any of these she received another slap, harder and more painful than the previous one " Pak ! ",  " This is for forcing yourself on my fiancee " Carie said furiously and as those words left her lips everyone started whispering and looking at Barbara with utter disgust. Barbara stood up and tried to slap Carie back but Carie held her hand, twisted it backwards and dragged her crop top.  

A rippling sound echoed in the restaurant and it was the sound of Barbara's clothes being torn apart. The whole restaurant was dead silent because everyone was keenly watching the fight including the manager because he was given an instruction from his higher ups not to interfere else he would be fired and because of this, the sound of the clothes being torn apart enveloped the whole place. Seeing that she had done enough for the day, Carie chuckled softly and kicked the weeping lady on the cold floor hard before leaving the restaurant. She saw the way Barbara's friends left her there and she mused to herself " They would always attach themselves to you when you're still at the top but be the first to desert you when you become a laughing stock ". The people continued to laugh at Barbara even after Carie left and they where given back their phones to take pictures and videos of her since Carie left and they did so, they've heard that the young miss of the Alfredo family is cruel just like her infamous brother but they have finally seen it with their eyes and they would surely tell the tales. 

Barbara was ashamed and was surprised her friends walked out on her but she knew she shouldn't expect much from them. She stood up with the help of some staffs and they covered her with a large cloth. Inwardly she said to herself " I swear Carie, I will deal with you and take what belongs to me, my Lim will belong to only me again at all cost, just you wait and see ".
