Chapter Four

This wolf, that was supposed to belong to my little brother looked almost like nothing. He had been slaughtered...

I turned to Sam to ask him what had happened to him and why his wolf was in such a state when he had nothing. It was to understand nothing!

Sam was not looking at me anymore but at his wolf. I could feel his sadness and anger that he couldn't do anything about this horror. Nev came closer to Alex with slow steps and when she reached him, she pushed him with the tip of her muzzle to get a reaction from him but nothing... I thought he was dead when a weak moan reached us.

Nev then decided to take things in hand and lay down next to Alex then she started to clean him and to lick each of his wounds as a mother would do for her little one. Speaking of mother, I wondered how it was that she did not notice anything. How could she not feel the pain of their son? It wasn't normal, I was pretty sure. We were still watching Nev and Alex when I felt a change in the room. I could feel that it was warmer. My sense of smell was that I could smell a lot of different people, including my mother. I could feel them all looking at us but I ignored them and focused on Sam again. I wrapped my arms around him and held him tight enough to remind him that I was there for him. After a few seconds, he held me just as tightly and began to sob. I could feel those tears running down my fur which only confirmed that even though the wolves in the room could see our actions, they didn't understand what was going on. They didn't understand why Sam, the son of the Alphas, was crying over a wolf he hadn't even known for a long time.

I ignored them and focused on my little brother who needed me and held him even tighter. It seemed to me that at least 2 hours had passed since Nev was taking care of Alex and me my brother. Nev must have finished because I felt her get up and walk towards us. I asked her how Alex was doing. She told me that he was doing better and that his days were no longer in danger, but that he would not wake up for a few days because by giving him some of our hybrid life force, she had put him in a semi-coma. He would be conscious of all that would happen outside but would not be able in any way to move except in case of urgent need. From the look on Sam's face, he was really relieved that Nev had managed to save Alex.

When he was sure that his wolf would be safe, he finally decided to speak. I thought that for his young age, he was really different from the other children.

Sam began to tell us his terrible story. He told us how he had been attacked by a member of his pack named Jake. He told us how he had been violently attacked by this vile wolf. He also told us how Alex without his permission had "sucked" his wounds so that Leyla and Shadow would not notice anything.

As he told us his story, Nev and I growled louder and louder. We growled so loudly that I felt some of the wolves in my room tense up as if they thought I was going to attack Sam, while others including our mother, tried to open the link I had opened to talk to Sam but Nev stopped them with a blast of pure energy and they flinched and stopped snooping. By the time he finished his story, both Nev and I were pissed off, appalled that no one in the whole damn pack had ever noticed this psycho! But we were even more upset to learn that this coward was attacking smaller animals than himself.

Without waiting another second, I got up, looked at Sam and bent down slightly so that he could get on my back. I looked towards the door of my room but it was blocked by all these wolves. I decided to go to the patio door that led to the balcony. With a telepathic push, I opened the door, ran to the balcony and jumped down from the third floor. As I took off, I felt all the wolves holding their breath except for my mother who ran in our direction to stop me from jumping but it was too late, I had already jumped. I told Sam to hold on tightly even if it hurt me so he wouldn't fall. Before touching the ground, I made my tendons grow slightly so that they would cushion our landing. I caught the look of several wolves who really thought I was crazy and that I was going to kill us.

But without paying attention to them any longer, I landed on all fours and began to sprint. I could still hear the voices of the wolves who didn't believe it, and I felt those who had recovered from their surprises trying to follow us to find out what was going on. But I was so fast that I managed to outrun them without any problem. I slowed down slightly to avoid Sam falling off my back and asked him to show me the way.

I followed his instructions, and we came to a small meadow surrounded by cliffs. When we arrived, I saw a whole family coming out of their house. There were seven of them, five men and two women, so I assumed they had sensed me coming. After all I hadn't hidden, my scent and I had been rather noisy.

I slowed down when I got within 50 meters of them and then stopped completely. I was used to running fast with my old pack, so I wasn't tired. When they stopped, in turn, I started to growl. One of the men came forward, so I assumed that he was the leader of the family. He looked at us for a long time, which made Nev and me even more angry.

Then he spoke.

"My name's Edwin, who are you and what do you want from us? Why is Sam with you?"

Instead of answering him, I growled louder. He tried to communicate with me telepathically by "forcing" the link, but Nev sent him a blast of energy that made him take a few steps back. The members of his family began to grunt in unison except for one. He wasn't looking at anyone but Sam. I stood up to look taller and hide Sam from this horrifying man's gaze and growled even louder. I growled so loudly that it sounded like a storm was brewing. I could feel that several wolves were already gathering around the clearing but no one was moving, they were just watching, not understanding what was going on.

The leader of the family in front of me also stood up and spread his aura trying to submit me to his will, but he didn't know that I didn't really have a place in a pack, that I was a free electron. He was as surprised as the other wolves not to see me submit. I almost lost the little control I had over myself when he tried to subdue me. I almost turned into what I really was, a wolf much bigger than the packs of this world. I felt two wolves arrive and not just any wolves. The Alphas Shadow and Leyla. Before letting Sam join them, I asked him to point out the man who had hurt him, although I already suspected his identity.

I bent my paws slightly so that he could get down without getting hurt. When he was on the ground, I stopped growling and turned my attention back to him. He looked straight at me as if to give himself courage and then he turned back to the family in front of us and pointed to the Jake he had told me about.

I turned to him and asked if he was sure, he nodded to confirm it. I turned back to Jake who was looking at Sam with an evil look on his face and started to growl at him while showing him my fangs which were longer than usual. I stood in front of Sam and pushed him towards his father who gave me a questioning look to whom I replied with a wild and angry look. I turned back to them and looked at them one by one. The head of the family looked at Jake without understanding. I decided to change back into my human form to answer their questions.

They were all surprised again when they saw clothes appear on my body. But I didn't pay any attention. Instead, I answered the questions.

"Who I am doesn't matter, I said in a throaty voice. Of you I want nothing. Of Him I want everything," I added with a growl and without waiting for him to answer, I transformed myself and ran in the direction of the wolf who had slaughtered Alex!

He had just finished his transformation when I jumped at his throat. But his family members blocked my attack by standing in front of him and trying to protect him. I didn't want to fight them, so I sent them waltzing a few feet away. I made sure that they were not hurt, after all, I had nothing against them.

Jake had just finished his transformation when he attacked me. I managed to dodge him and instead of attacking again as he expected, I started to run towards the cliff that overlooked the meadow. Of course this idiot followed me like the sheep that he was and I didn't make myself pray, accelerating slightly so that he wouldn't be too far behind but at least tired when we arrived at the rocky escarpment.

I felt that he was getting tired after all he was much taller than me in my current form, had slightly more muscle than me which weighed him down and made him, even more, tired. When I reached the cliff, I heard him laughing in my mind. He really thought he had me cornered, that d**khead ha!

When he saw me running straight towards the cliff, he accelerated but as I was waiting, he stopped in front of the cliff while I was still running but this time on the rocky wall. He raised his head to look at me with his mouth wide open like all the wolves present, then I propelled myself with my paws, did a back somersault and landed right behind Jake as initially planned. He didn't have the time to turn around as I was already grabbing his tail to throw him over the cliff. He hit the wall hard and a rock slide landed on him. I knew for sure he wasn't dead so I pretended he really was and started walking back to the center of the clearing. When I arrived at the center, I lay down lazily and looked at the place where the black wolf had been standing a few minutes earlier.

I didn't have to wait long. Jake was getting up slowly and painfully. His yellow eyes were bloodshot, white, slimy foam dripped from his mouth like a rabid dog and he was staring at me. I could feel his anger, his desire to kill me but even so, I didn't move. I could hear the thoughts of the wolves present and they all wondered if I was crazy. Only one wolf drew my attention slightly. It almost cost me my life, but thanks to Nev we barely escaped. I refocused on Jake to avoid getting killed and then got into an attack position. I was getting ready to jump when Jake decided to send his gamma aura in my face. I didn't expect him to deploy it so violently. Because of his stupid but smart idea, he managed to break my concentration, and I had to shake my head a few times to allow my senses to function properly. But when they were able to function again, Jake was unfortunately already in front of me. I didn't have time to dodge and had to take the attack of the black wolf. He managed to send me several meters without any problem. Because of this attack, I had trouble getting up, and I could feel my ribs cracking when he threw me. I guess I wasn't the only one who heard them bend under the violent attack because Leyla and some wolves wanted to join me but thanks to the bonds that still linked me to my old pack, I managed to create a transparent dome that would prevent the wolves from entering. I had just stood up when I received a violent claw blow on my chest. Of course I healed faster than an average werewolf, but because of my broken ribs, it took longer to heal. I didn't want to admit defeat but Jake managed to get me on my back, grab my throat and just before he killed me, he sent me off while telling me what he would do to my little brother once I was gone. He showed me everything he had done to him three days earlier and he showed me what he had done to other little ones before Sam. All these images were running around in my mind like a broken record. Without realizing it, I had relayed to all the wolves present what the black wolf had done and what he was going to do again. My mind had spared no one but Sam. It hadn't even spared Jake's family members who were standing and looking at him in horror. All these images, that were spinning in my mind, were driving me crazy with rage. I was so enraged that I managed by some miracle to push Jake away from me with one paw. All the wolves present were howling for death while others preferred a more rational judgment... But for the moment Nev and I didn't want to hear anything, we had lost our rationality when this wolf had dared to touch the cubs. Our surplus of power had allowed our internal and external wounds to heal very quickly. We snorted to get rid of the rest of the itch that was tickling our bodies and then we walked slowly towards Jake. When we got within a few meters from him, we stopped and let him get up. Once he was up on his four paws, we looked down at him and said to him.

~ You have two options. The first one is to be judged by all the pack, the second on to kill yourself and repent from what you did. And... the last one, die here and now in excruciating pain... ~

The black wolf looked at us and then let out a huge hysterical laugh before pronouncing the words that sealed his fate.

~ None of these options, are good enough to me hahaha, what I want is to...~
