Sister (failed) On Duty (Part 2)

"Thia! Thia! There's no one here. There's no one there." Eterna turned her head side to side very fast. She checked every alley and street. She didn't care about the fall previously. Her priority now was to find Thia. While jogging around, Eterna heard a faint voice.

'It's Thia. I'm getting closer. Wait for me, Thia,' Eterna thought and accelerated her pace. Her sweat dripped from her head and sometimes got into her eyes, but she didn't care. She kept running until she arrived at the last street in the voice's direction. She stood still and tried to map her way.

"It's a dead end. Five more alleys here. I went in the right direction, I guess." She checked all the Alleys, but Thia was nowhere to be found. She was frustrated and worried that her childishness would kill people around her more.

'I did it to Mia, but now to others' daughter? I killed everyone and even myself. I only want to be happy, but why does it cost me everything.' Eterna showed signs of frustration. She punched her own head repeatedly. There was blood in her hair, but she kept on it. Yes, her PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) kicked in.

"You. Stupid. Bastard." She screamed and stopped every word. Whenever she said a word, the beating pace increased. All the people there were shocked but didn't want to bother. It was similar to the world where Mari(Eterna's previous life) lived before or it was better(?). She used to live in the place where people wouldn't just ignored but even dared to take a photo and make it viral.

'Yeah... yeah... I should find her again. I won't stop here.' Eterna's eyes looked lifeless as she walked again like a zombie. But she really didn't stop there. She wandered around the city, but the result was nothing.

'Can't I act like a fool, childish for a moment? Why does everyone expect me to be someone serious, full of experienced, and tense? My parents, my friend, my client, and even my neighbor. When someone dies, it's not my fault.' She officially broke her mind. She smiled like crazy and walked back to the inn.

"It's your fault! As you said, if you were not being childish by leaving her, My daughter won't have died. Thia won't have died."

Eterna stood there while a woman sat on her knees as she kept beating Eterna's thigh. Eterna was never been this shocked since her sister died.

'Why don't I feel her punch? Is it always this numb? Or the pain move here?' She was pensive as she touched her chest. Her heart felt pierced and almost shattered. She became soulless. Whenever Thia's mom tried to shake Eterna's body, she didn't flinch.

Yesterday, Eterna walked to the inn by herself. She told everything about what happened to Thia's parents. The mom was agitated as she tried to punch her. She said that if Thia didn't come, she shouldn't as well. Eterna kept apologizing and fully bowed down to the parents. The parents chilled a bit and allowed her to search first. With the help of the cult, they tried to find Thia. The cult started to do some rituals to find her. The idea was every cult member was already baptized and had a mark on the neck. They tried to track that mark. Everyone joined the ritual except Eterna. She wasn't a member, so she helped with roaming the whole street.

It was almost morning but neither the cult nor Eterna could find Thia. The cult failed as their visions closed with a big dark cloud. While Eterna checked everywhere but couldn't find any hint. The cult decided to continue it later on since it was impossible for now. The leader asked everyone to pray for the safety of Thia. After that, They headed to their own home. Meanwhile, Eterna kept going back and forth. She decided to back when the sun raised. When she returned to the inn, she saw a random wood box outside. She then brought it inside and handed it over to Thia's parents. As they opened, it was... Thia's head with a note on the top.

"I will kill your Goddess," Eterna read the note while squeezing it into a ball.

No one could handle the madness. The parents screamed, cried, and did every madness that was possible. The father, who never accused Eterna like the mom used to, started to get crazy. He threw a vase on Eterna's head and started to curse her.

"If you didn't get carried away like that, she won't die. You never know how losing someone you loved was. It's really painful." The father fell on his knee. He covered his face with his hand as he cried. While Eterna was standing and felt the pain in her head, she couldn't be mad.

"Ah... This is my destiny." While Thia's mom kept punching her, Eterna walked away from the inn. Her bleed was everywhere but she didn't heal it. She had nowhere to go, Unless...

" Let me stay here," Eterna said with a gloomy expression on her face.

"I already know what happened from my blessing and it wasn't your fault. But, you need to go from here. It won't be safe for you." The leader rejected her as she planned to live in the cave for a moment. But Eterna insisted to go inside. The leader then gave permission with such an exception. The only place that she could use was the prison. The place where she came for the first time in this world.

"I will give you food and set some torch there. Like I said in our first meeting, We rarely go there. People won't harm you, especially the parents." Eterna just nodded as her body walked towards the prison.

"Wait- I'm not yet prepared for the torc-" He tried to help Eterna but she just ignored it as her body swallowed by the pitch black.
